The Vapor Trails remix is like blasphemy to me. The original has really kick ass production. Nice and raw!

I now have an idea to make a music video using random stock business footage.

I enjoy the remix. It might not be raw enough, but the original was too raw.

I don't get to say this often, but he was before my time, so I'm not ashamed at all.

A quick look at his AllMusic Bio and I recognize the song title I Put A Spell On You.  I assume that I have probably heard his version.

On the other hand, I may only be familiar with the CCR version.

Do Zappa completists actually exist or is it an urban myth?

Depends on how "completist" you mean.  I do know a couple of people that (claim to) own everything he's put out, though even then I doubt they have every possible variation of every album released in every country.  Me, I was close to being a completist at one point, but sometime in the last 10 years I stopped caring about picking up all of the posthumous releases the ZFT puts out.  I can only think of one proper studio FZ album I don't own, and that would be "Francesco Zappa".

Now you see this one-eyed midget
Shouting the word “NOW”
And you say, “For what reason?”
And he says, “How?”
And you say, “What does this mean?”
And he screams back, “You’re a cow
Give me some milk
Or else go home”
