It took a few listens to 'bite' but when it did.. it DID hahah. It has become my favorite of my admittedly small modern Italian prog collection. I asked Raff about that (Ubi Maior) a couple of weeks ago... no new news on that... looking forward to it... whenever it come.

I need Banco Help!
The only Banco record I have is the EMI double CD "Collezione Italiani" (which I think is sort of a greatest hits compilation). I love that CD (I got it in Florence Italy when I was there in 2006) BUT, I think I need to delve into the original records.
So, I humbly ask the good folks of this thread the following question:
If I had to choose 3 Banco studio albums, and (at least) 1 Banco live album, what would you choose?
As always, any advice is appreciated.

well, the obvious three are the first three studio albums(self-titled, Darwin, Io Sono Nato Libero), but you could sub one of those out for "Come in un ultima cena", "di Terra" or "Canto di Primavera". Those are all solid although a couple I haven't heard yet. Just check the reviews and see which of those seems like a good match...but the safe route would definately be the first three. Live albums are tough to pick between; the only one I have is a soundboard recording from '72 with some sloppy editing...I wouln't recommend it. I hear good things about "Made in Italy" and the one from 1975 but I can't say much else. Good luck.

^Mickey, you might give Ricordo from Randone a chance, somewhat more conventional than Hybla act 1 but a very good album, especially the first 24 minutes long track.
How do you all like Metamorfosi's E Fu il festo giorno? Not as well known as Inferno and looking at ratings not as well liked, i found it to be pretty good though.
I hope to pick up the BDM album in the near future

I've heard bits of that; seems to me that it was much more laid back than Inferno, not nearly as intense...this may be why the ratings are lower although it's still probably a good album.

Correct it's more accessible, to be honest i love the first half of Inferno, i always found the second half a bit too complex for my taste.

In only two short months, my Italian Prog myspace Page has logged 1000 views and now has 350 friends, the vast majority of whom are Italian musicians. Not bad for a start and I think it shows the potential and vibrancy of the scene. The one thing I've learned is how forward-looking and un-boring the current scene is. Italy is not just a 70s thing. The new artists are as unique and interesting as ever. My thanks to all who have helped get it off the ground and spread the word. Grazie. Jim If you haven't stopped yet, address is below.
