They are talking bout merrican musical notation and guitar-playing style. It is pretty much like american football: it's only used in the US (and Canada because it's America's backyard).

I haven't managed to get rid of my own LOL

what I'm going to do it put it back to a lighter gauge, and then bring it in to the shop where I bought it for my free setup

Yeah, I think I'll take it in for a setup, this is hella annoying. I was gonna adjust the truss rod but now I've pussied out since it sounds risky.
