well, I agree that Proto-Prog should always have a proto-time, I know it says "prior to 1969", but perhaps it can include a smashing main album of 1969.
seriously, putting this in the same timeline with ITCOTCK and with the debuts from ELP, Gentle Giant or VDGG doesn't match. High Tide does Heavy Rock, with a strong passion for progressive movement (and a low counter-sensitive influence for prog bands).
As Hard Rock, of course David could agree on it being plausible (but not like Atomic Rooster, I've listened to both HT and AT, they're "different" in their heavy conserved rock), but they could also be the Cream, Sabbath and Led Zep-like (drugy improvisational )hard rock band that characterizes, well, PP motives.
we'll check into this as I have proposed, upon clean-up, for HT to go to PP.

Up until recently, I'd always considered TMV more experimental, because they're my 3rd favorite band. Ever. And they consistently say in interviews how they don't wish to have a genre label, it limits what their fans will think of new experiments with their sound. Which I wholly agree with. At the same time, Art Rock perfectly fits the description. Thanks, Art Rock!
On a side note, I'd completely agree with picking up Amputechture first, then Frances The Mute, and finally De-loused. Amputechture is easier to listen to sometimes (at first, the intro to Day Of The Baphomets tore my brain cavity a new one), and Frances gets kind of a messy sound, yet tied together somehow (CLASSIC Volta). De-loused will be the most fun to listen to, mostly because of the tracks running into each other. I sunno, that's something I always consider a "gold star" mark in prog albums.
