There are clear lessons here for each and every Western democracy. That is, the experience of metropolitan liberalism and globalisation running our countries must surely be coming to an end.

Hi David. Yeah. I've heard some speak of how those with a standard Trump voter profile are tired of being insulted and patronized by elites. Both of your answers tend to veer in that direction, but like you I can't see any better answer myself. If one complains that elites think that they have all the answers, wanting to just shake things up is just an admission that one has even fewer answers. Yet they're seemingly not embarrassed by that. Aside from any of that I don't understand. I live in a very rural area of Oklahoma, but I mingle either with Native Americans (who are anti-Trump but don't vote) or with college types who tend to be left leaning as I am. I know Trump voters are a dime a dozen around here, but they're still a mystery to me.

He says things they wanna hear.  They either dont care or dont realize hes utterly full of sh*t.... Its like Reagan, he was terrible for the working class, but they loved him. They loved him because of his tough guy rhetoric, social conservatism, and appeals to racism.  Trump talks about the jobs they've lost, the depressed wages (this part is legitimate) and he also appeals to their general conservatism and racism. He appeals to people who are angry merka is becoming "soft and sissy" and how we're being overrun by Mexicans and criminal blacks shooting cops, PC gone crazy.

Mmm... I guess I still have to be reminded that so much of the populace fails to vote their own interests.

My wife is really pissed now. The BBC is still running the US election special and has postponed the local breakfast news. Now she'll never know what the weather is going to be like in Southern England today so is having to take four different types of coat to wear...
