I don’t think so.

There’s an article on the author on Wikipedia where both the novels are mentioned. But to find the name of the character you have to use another source (there are plenty if you google the titles).

No, he’s perfectly normal.

Hint: The author’s parents were from two different countries. The author was born in his/her father’s country and moved later to his/her mother’s country and wrote in the language of that country.
