Compared to the SNES and even more so the NES, perhaps. Compared to later Nintendo releases though, it's the best console ever.

SNES > NES > N64

Seriously.

Oh wait... the N64 maybe better than the Wii.
NES > SNES > N64 > GC > WII

I'm ignoring the handhelds here.

Swap the SNES with the NES and you're right.

SNES had some pretty damned good Square/Enix games.  NES didn't.
True. NES had the f**king classics though. SNES just can't compare.

I think I'm off too for the night - I might be woken up in a few hours by dad practicing banjo downstairs anyway, so I might be back then.  LOL

If you consider Mario and Sonic classics, yes (I'm not saying they're not; I just don't much like platformers).

I prefer Square/Enix games.

Plus I love the Lufia games.  Mmm.

NES did have some early Square/Enix games, of course and the original Zelda and Metroid.

Are you sure?  I'm sure I remember playing Sonic on my cousin's NES.  Crap.  I have played a ROM of it on PC though.

"The series began in 1991 with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, in addition to an 8-bit version of the game for the Master System and Game Gear formats."

With that, I really am off to bed.
