Just my rotten luck... Now that I'm moving to the USA, the exchange rate with the Euro has gone down (in favour of the dollar, of course), which means my hard-earned European cash will not be worth that much more. Well, I guess I shouldn't be complaining, since at the end of May I bought a flat there when the dollar/Euro exchange rate was at its highest in favour of our currencyWink

Well, sometimes you have to be lucky, don't you think so?Wink We were so damn unlucky when our petition was sent back after almost two months, and we filed again exactly when the petitions for work-based visas were flooding the immigration offices.. I waited eight months altogether for that visa, and now it seems I can't even set a departure date because of family-related issues.

Good afternoon, Raff - Heads up people, we have a continental influence in The Shed - out with the lardy cake & gallons of tea & in with paninis & frighteningly strong thimblefuls of coffee...

Rach - we didn't know! That's what comes of not putting your birthday in your profile, young lady...

Happy birthday for yesterday - hope you had a good one (even though it was Nick-less)

Have this on Vicky and I:

yes, you may have noticed that since I joined the Heavy Proggers, they seam to have felt at ease with popping in to the Shed with increasing frequency...Embarrassed

all I can say is that they are a splendid set of fellows, who don't tend to drink much of our beer, or indeed leave much of an untidy mess before they go.  I would also say that although David is from California, he has visited the UK, and even spent some time in Ludlow (of all places) so he's at least half civilised, and sees this place as some sort of cultural immersion programme..Big smile

You might be surprised to hear I prefer tea to coffee by far, even though I recognise that coffee is the best when you want to wake up! I also think I have a recipe for lardy cake somewhereLOL.... As long as it doesn't taste of sausages like the pie crust I bought last year when in the US (never again, we both swore), I'd be quite interested in trying itWink.

As long as your recipe doesn't substitute lard for extra virgin olive oil or currants for sun dried tomatoes, I'll be happy to give it a try; don't try to palm us off with anything healthy and European, Raff - we won't stand for it, I tells ya!
