You also ignored all polling.... Mick. Sorry just the way you carried on, how can you so simply dismiss this? And seriously how the f**k would Sanders not have won? The Democratic Party has to succumb now...f**k the Clintons, and f**k the DNC and all their big money donors. |
the polls showed a tightening... they didn't show him winning NC ... Wisconsin... or Michigan. Not getting 50 of the vote in Florida. Big f**king difference... as far as Sanders.... sure...whatever....I love hindsight 20-20... so yes.. that is what I alluded to in my last post. This loss will bethe catalyst for change in the Democratic Party. IT wasn't just HIllary that lost... it was a repudiation of the centrist Democratic Party of which she was the confounder and last real standard bearer of. those poor saps that voted for Trump will of course find out he doesn't give a sh*t about them.. and yeah... paid them lip service to their concerns... perhaps in 4 years they'll come back home to the party that actually does care about improving the lot of those left behind. That will be the economic evolution of the Democratic Party.. you best believe Trump will be seeing Elizabeth Warren in 2020... and a much more fiercely liberal Democratic Party.. and one that will most likely be exactly what people want...

Somehow I don't see you getting much sleep tonight, Mike, nor I. I'm staring to see that it's not the people who don't vote that swing elections, it's the people who do but don't normally. Even if Clinton were to win it's a remarkable outcome.

oh very remarkable. The historian in my is all atiter... serously David.. there will be books written about this election and all teh undercurrents of it. Remarkable indeed... so yeah... very disappointed in the result.. even the closeness of it. It doesn't change me or my life.. but what it it does is remind me why I catch the first jet to Italy with Raff and get the f**k out of this country It is two Americas my friend... and one that thinks that Trump and all he stands for.. respresents what AMERICA stands for... that isn't my country anyhow... my brain is in overdrive so yeah.. probably little sleep. This was a political gamechanger. For both parties.... the GOP establishment just got their manhoods collectively lopped off.. it is Trump's party now and if he runs it like his does his businesses.. he'll run the Republican 'brand' straight into the ground. and then there is the Democratic Party.... it is Warren's party now.... and it will be in good hands...

If Trump wins it's the final nail in the coffin for neo liberalism. The message is loud and clear and it's high time liberals recognised this and stopped obfuscating. People are voting in far right parties and personalities because of the failure of Labour/Democrats to respond to this. You can blame all the racists and the xenophobes but they are still in the electorate. I maintain that in good economic times these issues are not so aggravated as they have been. And I am starting to sympathise with the libertarian argument: If you have control of running the economy and screw it up, maybe you should indeed abdicate that control especially if your preferred alternative is spurring sharp divisions in society to give you the electoral math you desire.

I think the thing that I'm disappointed in most... is my own personal nativity the idealist in me that age and wisdom never fully stamped out... that enough voters understood the very different philosophies at play here about .... this country and what it stands for moving forward I had faith that people would choose hope and progress over fear and regression. Oh well....

"Like" is too strong of a word for most voting in this election.

I"d say it would be the opposite, but it doesn;t matter now. At least the majority of the pot initiatives looks like they will pass.

One way the election broke down on the basis of reports I've heard is that urban areas went for Hillary and rural areas showed up in droves for Trump. Trump's bio has absolutely no connection to anything rural. He did nothing to speak to rural concerns. So what possible appeal could rural America have had found with him?

Because Trump is at the same lowbrow fearful gun-toting against-choice level that a majority of that voting bloc still are? On the other hand, the people that tipped it to him may genuinely think he'll be "a breath of fresh air", a "working class hero", an "agent of change".

OH NO NO. NOT hindsight. I said consistently, and you know this, he was as good, if not better, a candidate as her because of his broader appeal, especially with the white working class. Don't hindsight me. There was a lot of arrogance throughout the whole thing, from many Clinton supporters, and I want this to be acknowledged Yall f**ked up. You still refuse to acknowledge it...."hindsight is 20/20"....the guy that had no email scandals, no clinton foundation issues and clearly no concerns about the process favoring him. Remember his net favorability? I hope you die hard Clinton lovers cherished it...hope the Dems boot their Wall Street loving bums and rebuilds for 2018 and 2020.
Oh you better believe it's Warren 2020. There better be a DNC purge too. Jettison the Clinton's. Maybe this was the only way.....

^ Yes and now he has to govern a nation, which will probably mean no wall, no Obamacare repeal, no major middle-east pullout.
And that sketch you posted looks exactly like Trump.
