No, I feel they're abusing the function of the 'Last 10 reviews' from the frontpage.

Done! Thanks for a great suggestion for dealing with machine-gun reviewers. So obvious and I never thought of it. That will help to easily and quickly scroll past to see what everyone has been working on. Much appreciated Harmonuim. I actually changed my home page to the "last 50" so I don't even have to use bookmark. |

I don't see the problem with posting a bunch of reviews at once. I don't know about you, but I never idly read the front page to see reviews. And so what if you get pushed off? You were going to be pushed off by another review of SEBTP anyway. Posting them all at once doesn't appreciably increase the rate of reviews, other than if it's late at night.
In what respect is it an abuse of the page? If anything, they're pushing their first review off the front page sooner by stacking 4 of their reviews on top of it. Edited by Henry Plainview - December 10 2009 at 02:09 |

^Yeah, I don't see the problem with it either...
I've seen it quite a few times before, but I've never thought of it to be problematic in the slightest. Even if they get 6 or 7 reviews on the front page, what's the big deal? I only ever read reviews on the front page if they're on an album I'm looking at getting or, for example, a 1 star review for one of my favourite albums or a 5 star for my least favourite, etc... |

The main page is the flagship of this website - that's for sure ...
as for that I personally don't like it when the page is flooded by one reviewer - it undermines the diversity a bit ... On the other hand this is not an abuse nor a policy is broken what I know - I simply don't like it ... |

I can never remember where that thing is except when it appears at the top of a heading.

I've personally flooded the main page a time or two. Of course, that was writing the reviews one after another, posting in real time and not just throwing a bunch I'd written out there. It isn't some grand scheme of somebody's to take over the page. They may just be a fast writer, or a really slow one who doesn't always have good access to the internet.
And an interesting question I keep wondering if I should pose: does anybody actually read the five star reviews of Close to the Edge or Selling England by the Pound or so on? These incredibly popular, massively rated albums that seventy percent of reviewers give glowing praise to. I'm not interested usually in another five star review. I never read any reviews for those sorts of albums unless they're negative, because that's where the interesting viewpoints seem to happen. Anyone else find themselves in the same boat? |

You're welcome BTW if "last 50" is not enough (in case of longer periods without PA), one can easily change the hompage link like this: http://www.progarchives.com/Default.asp?latest=100 or http://www.progarchives.com/Default.asp?latest=150 in order to see more reviews. I got this from Moris (clarke2001). |

Where do you guys get the time?
I added Steve Smith's VitalInformation a couple of years ago and wrote the bio, hunted down some videos, added the albums and added his website. I've got all the albums but it would be kind of weird if everything in the entry is done by one guy. No? Deosn't anyone have any Vital Information albums? Smith has got to be one ofthe top 10 drummers living on planet earthtoday. I dunno. Check it out. |

I usually read the reviews for them from my favourite reviewers, or if they're 1* reviews, but other than that I usually skim past... If they're really short, IE less than 3000 words, than I definitely won't bother. |

Of course, no one is going to prevent me from writing reviews for these well known albums, but I don't like it. However, even I know my review is not so useful, should I miss my opportunity to contribute to this big bunch of already existing reviews ? Should I hold my thoughts back, just because so many people have already reviewed it ? That's crazy. I don't like it, but I do it from time to time, they're mostly short. |

There are two sides to posting a bunch of reviews at the same time
1 ) if you're good at it, or the reader finds the first one, or first few interesting, they'll read the rest 2) if you suck in the first review, who's gonna bother with the rest ... 3) most sucky reviewers don't know that they suck |

In response to #3 from debrewguy... I might be an exception. I've edited some of my earliest reviews. They were awful. Now are only pretty crummy.

^ Hard to say, I consider every Transatlantic 5 star appraisal as highly suspicious.

http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=247454 Common, I'll defend this album very fiercely any time a day. Even now, when I'm tired to death. Sooo, is my review suspicious too ? I think you didn't mean it that way, but still, it crossed my mind. |

Let's make together complicated drama play in 5 Acts, each having few smiles inside. That would be, well, Modernism <:- ) But seriously. His reviews aren't as strong as mine. At that's something worth considering, because I don't see my reviews so high. Also, using of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! isn't going to win him friends. So as long as I stick with my 5 Transatlantic reviews (and all 5-stars), his reviews are poorly written. Not that mine are good, just saying. And right now, listening again Whirlwind (let's say, in total 20-25 total plays / spins, OK ?). Even I realized that I sometimes pick up just one or two songs (mostly Lenny Johnson and Spinning). I still see / hear it for 5 stars. |

^ A "complicated drama play in 5 Acts"
That sounds like a very Transatlantic kind of thing to do indeed! An idea for their next album maybe So yes, seriously, I wasn't targeting anyone in particular, I just can't resist making fun of Transatlantic. Better don't mention them when I'm around :-) |
