OK, we're dealing with the truly obscure here...
Ethos was a band from Iasi, Romania, active in the late seventies/early eighties. The exact dates are not known and I could find any official biography for the band. The band never managed to release a full length LP. They were first included on the "Formatii Pop vol. 2" compilation released in 1976 with the track "Visul". The full details of the release are available on Discogs: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Forma%C5%A3ii-De-Muzic%C4%83-Pop-2/release/3662396 And here is this track: Two years later they released they first and only single/EP with 2 excellent tracks "Caut nume" and "Miezul noptii". Here are the release details on discogs: http://www.discogs.com/Formatia-Ethos-Caut-Nume-Miezul-Nop%C5%A3ii/release/3378366 This record truly is a collector's item - it took me a long time to find a copy of this vinyl in a condition decent enough to allow me to create a proper rip. Here are the 2 tracks from this single: Caut nume: Miezul noptii: The only other material I could dig up is a live recording from the Sibiu Jazz Festival, 1981: I know there's not much material left from this band but I do think the quality of this material grants the band the right to be at least discussed here and hopefully included on the site for other people to discover. Thanks! |

Pretty cool stuff.
While the first track sounds awfully close to the late 70s symph prog, the latter two clips are much more in the vein of fusion. Be that as it may, I'm not sure that either of those teams will include an artist with some 3 tracks under their belt.

I do see your point - but if 3 tracks is enough to have them listed on Discogs, then shouldn't it be enough for including them on PA also? After all it's the quality of the music which should matter most... |

I see your point too don't worry. I am however not part of suggestions team here any more, but from what I understand reading the band submission procedure, the EP has to be at least 10 min long to be considered for inclusion. The two tracks here amount to almost 9.
I know this is splitting hairs, but I'm just relegating what I've read here http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=35133

What's 1 minute between friends?
Well, even if they don't get accepted, at least more people will get to hear the music and that can never be a bad thing! |

Thanks fellas. Just to reinforce what David has said, the admission policy requires:
1.1 A single long track or several shorter tracks combined under one title, with at least the length of an EP (10-25 minutes)... |

So if they would have released the 3 tracks on the same EP, it would have been OK...
Darn! I'm sure they did not know about this requirement, otherwise they would have met it ... |

I agree entirely, and they certainly deserve to be heard, particularly by the Prog community. Excellent music! :D |
