Really fantastic band. Recently listened to each one a couple of times. Love them all. (I know, a lot of 4.5s)

1.The Doors (5/5)
2.Waiting for the Sun (4.5/5)
3.Morrison Hotel (4.5/5)
4.Strange Days (4.5/5)
5.L.A. Woman (4.5/5)
6.The Soft Parade (4.5/5)
7.In Concert (4.5/5)

I agree, their first album was the best. However, as much as I love the Doors, I don't think they did one album where I loved every song. This is true of almost all bands, including all of my favorites. I can count the albums where every song is a gem on one hand, regarding my faves.

So, despite that fact that it's not a popular philosophy here at PA, I truly think compilation albums are the way to go. After all, that's what you get at a concert, right?

Top Doors album for my liking are : the debut, Strange Days, Waiting For The Sun and Other Voices.  I have never heard a weak Doors album.

I think their best one is definitely L.A. Woman.
Without listening to them for a long long time, the rest would be something like this:

Waiting for the Sun
Morrison Hotel
strange days
The Doors
the soft parade

I don't think i've ever gotten through Morrison Hotel, couldn't make it. Wasn't feeling any of the Doors' auras come through.

Then don't come in here! And don't let the (surviving) Doors hit you on your way out!

try "In Concert"; compiles the entirety of "Alive, She Cried" and "Absolutely Live", plus a few other tracks. It's pretty food

It sounds bleh.

Also: In Concert is pretty much a live compilation so that works. If not, go for Absolutely Live. The End is by far the best performance, but overall the live performances are either hit-or-miss for me.

You at the very least got to like Waiting for the Sun; one hell of an amazing song.
