Topic: Most Metal Album Cover Posted: May 31 2012 at 10:57 |
I'm searching for the most metal album cover of all time. Here's my first entry.
SIGH- Scenes from hell
Help me find the most metal album cover of all time. :-)
I'm pretty sure you guys can figure out what is considered metal. I mean, death, fire, hell, demons, violence, sex, basically AS MUCH sinning, ominousness and despair as possible on the cover. Haha

There's quite a few out there, but I thought of this one right off the bat:

In my opinion most depraved and sick does not mean most metal.

Here, here! I feel that this should apply to the music as well as the art. Metal needn't be "extreme" to be metal. Anyway, here's my pick:
|
"I am the one who crossed through space...or stayed where I was...or didn't exist in the first place...."

Completely agree with this. I don't get the metal = abject equation. The thread should have been titled what's the most sick and depraved album cover if these are the types of images you are after.
One of the most metal album sleeves I can think of would be British Steel by Judas Priest. Now there's a cover that really wears its metal credentials on its sleeve (literally):

Haiku
Writing a poem
With seventeen syllables
Is very diffic....

I thought the same thing but there weren't any other "list" things so I figured I'd throw it in there.
And the one with the demons and the naked girl and the poodle hair wins so far imo.
Its not really the best cover, but in terms of metalness I think its most metal haha

I didnt say most sick and depraved. Basically the cover with the most sinning combined with epicness. Because sinning and being epic is metal.
Didnt mean for it to go sick. Wolves? epic so its metal- Blood and disgusting stuff? Sinning so its metal.
Judas Priest straight edge to help people committ violent acts like suicide and stuff? Metal as sh*t.
Plus I was just trying to have fun and pass the time...

Metal isn't all about sinning. I mean, Moses opening the Red Sea? So frigging metal. Jesus rising from the dead? You can't be more metal than that. Jesus riding a raptor? More metal than the Big Four tour combined with an Black Sabbath/Iron Maiden common gig.

DAMN IT you're right...
I guess you can't really define metal. IT JUST IS.

Supposedly I'm of the few people who think really gnarly and grotesque = metal.
