Sorry man, I really didn't think nothing wrong. Just didn't find your poll there,so asked.

Than I realized possibly you couldn't start it because of some (new) rules, sorry because of that. The only reason this new rule was accepted is some guys starting multi-accounts for manipulation with votings. Now it's more difficult, that's all.

BTW, it's not a hard job I believe for any newbie to become groupie and to have wider possibilities on site

It's a bit strange to hear such recommendation from old PA member

I love Hillage a lot - he certainly deserves more recognition. But I must admit I'm not too fond of Ozric Tentacles - they sound kinda boring to me.

Steve Hillage scored second only to Steve Wilson in my Those Other Steves poll a few weeks ago, so it seems as if he is well known and respected here on the site, even if there don't seem to be many reviews on his albums.  Remember though, he was a member of Gong, for which he may be better known than his solo work.  As to his relation to Ozrics, more power to 'em, I say.

When i think of Hillage i think GONG,KHAN and his solo works. I agree completely that that OZICS had to have been inspired by his solo works and perhaps "Green" especially. A very talented guitarist.

That's pretty much how I feel about the Ozrics. I stopped at Aborescence. There didn't seem much point in continuing..

I do agree Ozric is a bit monotonous and i prefer hillage but having watched a live dvd , it's clear they're better on stage , it's a real psychedelic show , i remenber it was the same with hawkwind , sometimes boring on record but amazing on stage , i saw them in paris on 1977Ozric could be kind of new Hawkwind

I like both.

Sadly, the Ozric family is down to its last legs and when they lost Champignon (John), they lost the "feel" and the sensual touch that the music had that is terribly lacking right now. Ed has stopped exploring and learning and finding new music ... it is now strictly rock'n'roll music with the midi boards going kinda nuts, in concert venues where you can't hear the keyboards at all ... which makes the music come down to garage band status.

So, if you ask me, Ozric's have lost it, and I don't see that they are making strides in making sure that the venues do not hurt their music.

Hillage, is still going strong and hearing him again with Gong is amazing and far out ... and neat. He has always been experimental and the new version of Gong is almost a dream come true ... remember that one of the best guitar duets in progressive music can be found in Gong's YOU and guess who the two guitarists were. And both of them knowing the massive history they both have and new found appreciation for each other ... is massive and I think the one thing that the Ozrics are missing.

I do not mind the idea that the Ozric's now is the family band ... and while it has nice things on a cd ... they really need to make a call on the quality of their work on the road. My contention is that this has become a secondary band, due to its quality of work.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Yeah! If you like dealing with a free for all. From Grand Funk Railroad fans to Ange fans. Yeah, that's Progears. In one sense you have fans of Mountain and Grand Funk that have no knowledge of greats like Rory Gallagher but, are ignorant towards the British Blues Boom era, ......in otherwords, Keith Richards who wrote great songs like "Jumpin' Jack Flash", "Ruby Tuesday" etc, has the look of a rest home lunatic and so that equals the word=suck. While loads of members worship Mark Farner and his stupied "Footstompin' Music role. Either that or it's the worship of the almighty epic: "I'm Your Captain".

The older generation of proggy members on P.A. are very cool to converse with. They don't come crawling out of the woodwork and insult everybody as they often do on P.E. In otherwords....there are some pretty blown up egos on P.E.  There are musicians on P.E. who feel that their butts do not stink like everyone elses. They come off in a fashion that smells of you, the viewer, kneeling down to kiss their feet. Like they are too good to listen to Jeff Beck? They can't appreciate average Rock music for what it is. Fans on P.E. have in the past, slaughtered an album like Soft Machine Bundles making it seem as if the title itself lacks a high ranking musical level. The problem with egotisitical members such as these is the fact that they can't tell the difference between the beautiful expressive guitar playing of Jeff Beck from the "Rough and Ready album and Rhino from Iron Butterfly. If you are going to be an ego driven insulting type of person, then at least get your history right.
