Topic: Your brothers, sisters? Posted: July 21 2010 at 20:21 |
I'm the only child. I'm fine with that, although I wouldn't mind having an older sister, let's say. I'm curious to know what are the typical patterns in our corner of the internet? Also, would you like that number to be different, or you prefer it as it is?
Also, are you the firstborn, the second, the youngest?
(There is no 'other' option. I understand some answers might be blurry - some of us might have half-brothers/sisters, or adopted ones, some of the siblings might have died at very young age (perhaps that's a subject to painful and intimate to talk about), some might be much younger/older, so you never co-habituated in the same family. Answer whatever you feel is right.)

I have a sister who's a little over a year younger than me. It worked out well for me, since we were close enough in age to be good friends for our entire lives.

I'd imagine the results will reflect the general.
Anywho, I have one brother, 2 years younger. I'm cool with how things are, and same with Llama...we've been able to hang out, be friends for most of our lives.

I have a younger sister (consequently I'm the firstborn).
The interesting part is that my father married with 42 and we were born when he was 44 and 46; my mother was 16 years junior than him. Although the age difference between husband and wife was not uncommon for the 1950s their ages were unusual since people married around 20-25 yo then.
EDIT: I'm betting that the majority of us will be firstborn.

Two younger sisters (one is 3 years younger, the other is 16 years younger), and one older brother (one year older), whom I am good friends with. I am second-born.

I have a sister who's 11 years older, and a brother who's 10 years older than me. I'm the little baby in my family . But I get along well with them now (my sister was tougher to get along with for some years), and have plenty in common with both, despite the fact that they were out of the house by the time I was 8 or 9.

Neat poll. I have an older brother and a younger sister (and then there were three? ). Haven't been in touch with the brother due to his bad behavior a few years ago. My sister and I get along well. Neither of us get along with the brother these days. My Mom came from a big family, six make that seven kids. My Dad only had one sister.

You seem to be right. I'm the first and I have 2 sisters, one is 3 years younger and the other 6 years younger than me. How did you guess that I wonder ?

Oh, I'm the younger . Two brothers. Though we have similar interests and hobbies, we are not so alike. With one of them are very close and we did everything together. The older is kind of messy but we hang out well...

Exactly this.
Interesting how many of the people here are firstborn. It appears to me that most firstborns are often more quiet and laid-back, as most proggers seem to be.

I'm the youngest, I have 2 older sisters, one of whom got me into prog by bringing home a copy of Nursery Cryme once.

I have one older brother, one younger sister and two younger half brothers. We are all friends, but don’t see each other very often since two of us live in Norway, one in Belgium, one in Germany and one in Greece (guess who).
