Topic: Do you believe in the traditional, controlling god? Posted: December 09 2009 at 11:34 |
This is a simple YES/NO question. No middle grounds here. I'm not asking about those versions of god like "he's in every one of us" or "he's part of nature" or "he exists but he lets us be". No.
I'm asking: do you believe there is a god who is an actual being (I'm not saying flesh and bones or material), a being with a concience, who created the earth, who is watching it, who eventually (or always) interacts with the earth and iots inhabitants, who can hear your prayers and who can (maybe) act upon them...
In a word: do you believe in the traditional view of god? In this case, a YES or NO is enough. Those who believe in the "god is every one of us" kind of god please answer NO.
Yes, this thread is actually asking for the bearded guy...

You said "no middle grounds", I'm an agnostic. Draw the conclusion yourself.

I believe that an all-powerful turtle controls our existence. Not sure if he has a beard or not.

Richard Dawkins doesn't have a beard so this should be easy. Wait that Dennet guy has a swell beard, now I'm confused.

You had a goatee in the last pictures we have of you, Teo, does that count?
I appreciate your trying to narrow the question, but you're never going to specify enough that people are going to feel completely comfortable with yes or no.
Obstain. Abstain? Ubstain? My speller circuit is broked.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

^I tried to narrow it enough but it's difficult... and my stupid "the bearded guy" thing has almost killed any chance this thread had of giving me an answer....
I just want to know if there are any actual believers in the traditional view of god... the one in the skies listening to about 6000000000 voices a day..... Because that belief, at least in my view, well....
And there are people who still believe in that one. if you have ever been in countries like the one of my origin, you'll know...

Ok. To seriously answer this thread, I'm an agnostic who isn't completely sure of what the answer really is. However, I think the evidence points against an all-powerful, all-good god controlling our existence.

Of course not. We can't disprove its existence directly, but the fact that no evidence of its interference exists is a pretty good indication of its unlikelihood (and there's more).

More interesting poll. How many times do you think Billy Gibbons has played the core riffs of "Tush" or "La Grange."
