Which internet browser is in your opinion the best? Personally I use Opera and like it very much. I haven't had any problems with it so far.

Mozilla is great, but has one disadvantage: when visiting sites which
play media on it, you always have to download the plug-in first, which
is a bit annoying.
my personal preference is Netscape, and be it only for the inbuilt AIM-feature |

Firefox because it's safer, faster, and more convenient. Sometimes its a pain in the ass for media and these forums, but it's worth it because I can't stand IE.

I think we can all agree on which is the worst.

At least there is one other sensible enough to use Opera, besides me.

Opera here.
Hang on, I'm posting that from Firefox . Well, Firefox is better integrated into Linux, so when I'm not running Windows I use it instead (unlike IE, FF isn't awful enough to warrant the effort of fiddling around to get Opera running!). The betas for Opera 9 look great though (although I'm not entirely convinced of widgets...). If they went open source it'd be much easier to use on Linux, but it's still far and away the best browser. |

I use Opera, but I can't vote yet as I'm having a problem... Some days it works just fine, but sometimes it stops working for a about 10 seconds and then it works for another 10 seconds and it keeps doing this for the particular day. But the next day it might work without problems. How can I fix this problem? |

Is it on any specific websites? Which version are you using? (the beta not being a good idea, since it's still more than rough around the edges). The only real issue I've had with Opera is using it to change settings on my router, since the router isn't too happy about the way it loads pages and I find I have to wait a bit after the page has loaded to do anything or it won't change settings (the wait, presumably, is the extra time it would have taken other browsers to load the page ). It's also less than forgiving on poorly written pages. |

Firefox by far, but the most secure of all is Safari for Mac, with 0 critical errors during the last year.

If you go to About on the Help menu, it'll open up a page with the version information at the top. 8.54 is the latest stable version, so if you are using 7 it's unlikely to be fixed |

http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1894708,00.asp ? That said, http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=2201 just a day earlier . On the other hand, that's one vulnerability rather than thirteen. If I recall correctly, one big security problem for Safari is the way that it uses the same engine as a lot of other bits of OSX, in much the same way that lots of Windows uses bits of Internet Explorer. I forget what that was all about, though... edit: http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/02/20060220220507.shtml There we go. I don't think that was actually the problem, but it's basically the same thing everyone yells at IE for. Edited by goose |
