Lets focus on 3 of the biggest pop/alt bands out there. My favourite is definately Live. Songs like Pillar of Davidson from Throwing Copper almost border on prog. He also has such an amazing voice (not to mention the lyrics) Outside of your Prog/Rock which do you prefer? |

Never heard of Live, but I've seen REM and U2 before. U2 put on a great show visually but sounded awful. When I saw REM they sounded brilliant, but the venue was so huge I couldn't see the stage, and visually their show was quite modest.

I don't like U2 or REM,so I voted for Live. I had a friend growing up who went to high school with members of the band in York County,Pennsylvania and I hung out with and knew the guys in the band before they got popular. Very nice guys, especially Ed Kowalczyk. |

U2. I think they are the most innovative band of the three that were mentioned. |

I only started to get into Live last year. The Distance to here and Throwing Copper are brilliant albums. In fact they sit quite comfortably between my Floyd and Kansas CD´s |

U2, but REM are very good too. Live does not ring a bell.

I like some REM albums, especially Automatic for the people is exceptional U2, I hate them (although I need to listen to their early material) Live are ok so my vote goes to REM |

Moi? I didn't vote for anything, but I'm now about to do so.. My vote is actually for REM, as generally prefer their music. I would say they ar not as inovative as U2, but their sound and songs appeal to me more. |

I voted REM. I love their early albums and still listen to them occasionaly. "The Joshua Tree" is a great album from U2 but they have become so egostistical and self-righteous its almost sickening to me. I like Live alot; "Throwing Copper" is a fine album, but havent heard enough of their other material to really make a call.

So many have not heard of Live?
How could anyone who has heard it forget Lightning Crashes, a three chord build up for about 6 minutes or so and lyrics such as: Lightning crashes a new mother cries Her placenta falls to the floor The angel opens her eyes The confusion sets in Before the doctor can even close the door and that fantastic voice. Never liked much after Throwing Copper though Sorry, didn't vote for any, though they are all good at what they do |

Yes, who are Live? Never heard of them before. As for REM or U2: I prefer REM, though I don't like them.
