Hi Everyone!!, Which is in your opinion the best SA Prog band?? I've listened to many many SA bands and my favourites are: 1.- Jaime Rosas Cuarteto "Creciendo" - Great great symphonic band. IMO one of the best 2005 albums and one of the best keyboards player I know. 2.- Chaneton "The first lights of the Century" - Brilliant Neo prog Argentine band. 3.- Automata "Mecanica" - SA Crimson. This Chilean band is worth listening to. Highly recommended. 4.- Los Jaivas "Alturas de Machu Pichu" - Love it!!! Pure Andean folk prog. If you are looking for innovative and fresh prog, take your time and explore what South Americans are doing. You'll be impressed!!!

Hi Erik, Yes, few of a kind!!! Regarding Automata, it's not easy to classify their music. I think they sound quiet close to modern Crimson, but I strongly recommend you visit their website www.automata.cl. There you can listen to their whole album by clicking the MP3 icon.

MARCO ANTONIO ARAUJO - "Influencias"!!!! (doesn't anyone know this?!?!?!?) MUTANTES - "A e o Z"; "Tudo foi feito pelo sol" TERÇO - "Criaturas da noite"; "Terço II" SAECULA SAECULORUM - "Saecula saeculorum" this is only brazilian prog..... Marco Antonio Araujo is no doubt the greatest one among these.... I've never seen anyone talking about him, even in SA prog polls.... influencias is one of my favorite prog albums ever..... my only advice: listen to it. Edited by atomicbomb |

Mindflowers is not a South American band. Nice to see Toccata on there! However, the list is incomplete without MATRAZ – Gritaré ... ____________________________________________________________ _________ http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfrppZ50QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQrdZ0QQs assZnicedreemz Edited by verslibre |

I'd like to know more about Chlilean band AUTOMATA, their guitarist contacted me asking to include them in PA. He told me they are prog-metal. This guitarist, Iñaki, also works with EXSIMIO. About South-American prog, I'd add to the previous list the following (all Brazilians):
