Topic: Your favorite Mr Bungle release? Posted: January 04 2006 at 15:49 |
It was close between Disco Volante and California for me, but I had to
go with Disco Volante. The debut is incredible, but seems a tad, I
dunno, childish as I get older.

I like California better. Dunno why, probably because it's more accesible, therefore an easier listening experience.

They're all essential ... but Disco Volante is my favorite. The first album is more funny, the other one contains my favorite Mr. Bungle song (Ars Moriendi).

Possibly the best lyrics for a chorus ever.

I haven't heard California, but out of the first two I really can't decide. DV is a little too noisy or the first three tracks, but on the other hand it does have After School Special...

I only have Disco Volante, and I love it I'll get the others soon too.
The first album must be funny as hell I saw a video of My Ass Is On Fire, they looked like Insane Clown Posse in their early years![](smileys/smiley9.gif)

Disco Volante by far. Their debut is really good and funny but it was just a warm up for what was giong to happen in 1995

Come on, people! There's gotta be more Bungle fans out there.
Retrovertigo, I'm looking in your direction... (although I have a suspicion what your choice will be)

Disco Volante, of course is their masterpiece. Carry Stress in the Jaw, Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz, and Platypus being my favourites. I think my copy is all scratched up now.
All three are excellent, however. California has Ars Moriendi and None of Them Knew They Robots, and Mr. Bungle has Squeeze Me Macoroni and Dead Goon.

I like them all.The self title debut is really fun to listen to and is very humorous, but Disco Volante is a much greater achievement.

I love to go to the schoolyard and watch the children jump and scream, but they don't know I'm using blanks.

I've only heard California and Disco Volante. They're both amazing, but I'd have to go with Disco Volante.

Fantomas is really good if you want some really weird metal. The EP he did with Dillinger Escape Plan is worth getting if you like Fantomas.
Faith No More has some really good stuff too. I really don't like The Real Thing, but there are a few redeeming tracks near the end. Angel Dust is my favorite of theirs. It's very keyboard oriented. King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime has Trey Spruance from Mr. Bungle on it, but it still can't compare to Angel Dust.
He's also on a few tracks on Medulla by Bjork (along with Robert Wyatt), which isn't that bad either.

I think i will go with Disco...
California comes close (and has my two of my favs on it)...i just think DV is better in terms of progression overall.

Dig me...But don't...Bury me I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.
