Are you a fan of Guns N Roses?  No.  Well that's OK.  This time I bring to you a theme poll of well-known bands, if not well-known songs.  This poll will either be easier because you will know most of the songs and can just vote...or it may be harder because you can't just choose the two or three songs that you actually know (heck, even Paul may know two or three of these songs Wink).  I was going to include One Thousand Roses from Renaissance, but there wasn't a YouTube video that I could find, so you get Fairport Convention instead.  At any rate, think of this as a gun to your head forcing you to vote for your three favorites for which you will want to present roses at the end.  I have included a link to a YouTube playlist for those of you who like that, and I have included the videos below for those who like that.  Have fun and happy listening!

From this list I choose the Beatles, Floyd and Camel. But this one beats them all:

The Fish song would have been a great song to include.  Sadly, I've not bought that album yet, so it was not within my library of songs that I was searching.  Definitely would have been a great choice to include if I had thought about it!

Tori Amos - Me And A Gun. This acapella song about being raped is chilling.

What!? No Holdsworth??? The Things You See (When You Haven't Got Your Gun). The shame This should be a well known song.

Otherwise, Belew, Purple, Waters.

Another one not in my collection, but it would have been a good inclusion.

My first choice was the Gunner's Dream, the highlight of The Final Cut. If there was only one vote, this would have been it. I gave my other two to Camel and Deep Purple, although i could have voted for five more.

FYI. "Gunman" was co-written by David Bowie. Also, on the same Belew album (Young Lions) Bowie wrote and sang "Pretty Pink Rose".

As much as I enjoy them, I think these polls only establish which songs are more familiar.

Personally, I think that any poll on PA has no statistical value whatsoever, but they establish something else: it is not about how many votes an artist/band/song/whatever gets (and I really pity those who think it is about that), but it is about exchanging music. And if you mean by these polls, the polls that rushfan4 has been putting up, then I can tell you that he has made me discover some very interesting music lately. That's what these polls establish for me.
But you have to have the curiosity to listen to what you don't know; and in that sense I also make your assessment that, apparently, most participants in polls vote for what they know and are to lazy or not curious enough to listen to what they don't know.Probably that's because prog fans are just like human beings...
