I'm pretty resilient to the Hollywood heart tug formulas and even the most emotional scenes, at best, give me a slight lump in my throat. But I have to confess that 'The Kid' starring Bruce Willis made me wipe those salty drops. Which ones cracked your cold heart?

When the Wind Blows actually brought tears to my eyes, as did Kuroi Ame (Black Rain), Three Colours: Red gave me a lump in the throat at the end. Oh, and Breaking the Waves, and Dancer in the Dark most definitely. There are quite a few that choked me up, and should come to mind later. Oh, and Raise the Red Lantern, and Midnight Cowboy definitely. Paris, Texas, Olivier Olivier...

The end of The Road always got me. Very dark, bleak movie with a sad ending that always chokes me up.

The Road was one of the saddest and great novels that I have read — a favourite of mine. I started on the film, but didn’t make it through. It can be hard to watch an adaptation when the source material not only meant a great deal to you but was incredibly vivid. Never Let Me Go, both the novel and the film choked me up. Under the Skin choked me up in part, as did Blue and Pan’s Labyrinth, and Life is Beautiful and The Sweet Hereafter, and Melancholia, The Eel, and The Man Who Fell to Earth., and even Zardoz. ... I’m such a softy.

I have to weep at too many movies to count. For example when Snow White dies in the famous Disney movie. Really!

From Stripes with Bill Murray: "Who saw Old Yeller? Who cried when Old Yeller got shot at the end? Nobody cried when Old Yeller got shot? I'm sure. I cried my eyes out." |

When out on a date in my younger years I went to see Bambi in the cinema, and I genuinely teared up (no onions required). Sadly, this display of my sensitive side did not impress the girl as much as I might have hoped (we were in the military together, despite my pacifistic leanings). |

There was a couple of scenes from Hotel Rwanda that got me choked up, but that was quite awhile ago.

"Love Story" also brought me to tears. I first saw the movie on TV when I was 14.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy brought me to tears. Not a transformative kind of effect, but rather an outflowing of tears out of emotional satisfaction.
Come on, I would be happy to see Skeletor wins his war; but who would wish the same thing for Sauron? Instinct (1999) also had a similar effect on me, albeit coupled with immense sympathy for the gorillas. I kinda like American pathos as such. There are many Turkish movies that brought me to tears, too. Edited by Shadowyzard - October 28 2020 at 12:48 |

If you don't cry during "Elephant Man" there is something fundamentally wrong with you.

I saw the remake in the late seventies but never saw the original. I agree though and it's one of the biggest tear jerkers I know of. A few more that come to mind are stepmom (1998) and Marley and Me(2008). Also, I found boy in the striped pajamas(2008)to be one of the saddest, darkest and most depressing movies I've ever seen. If you don't cry at the end of that you simply aren't human.

I actually own this one and watched it not too long ago. It's very emotional at times but not sure it's a tear jerker. Excellent movie though and maybe one of the best of all time.

Yeah, definitely Forrest Gump. I didn't see the others. Another one that was rather sad was Rain Man. Yeah, definitely Rain Man too.

Excellent choices that evoked intense pathos in me. Not sure if they made me cry, but they impressed me very much. Wall-E... Who would've thought one can feel sorry for a robot? I'm not talking about a robot like the Terminator and such... They are humans with some make-up and visual fakery. |
