hah.. with you alls track record of excellence with the earlier R.M's I would hope, and expect, prog fan to support you all. Perhaps only RPI needs a version more than Krautrock for delving deeper into the scene than the listener just knowing some albums.  We tried to do that with RPI, as Phillippe tried to do with Krautrock here but like you will with Krautrock, and later with RPI, you will reach a larger audience than we as collabs ever could here in this fishbowl.

Both are ripe for education as well as entertainment.  You know you can count on Raff and my support and help in any ways we can.

Nice project, but I don't see Amon Duul II in the list of bands.  Thoughts?

p.s. RIP Lothar Meid!!

Adele and Jose had so much material that they decided to split the film in two parts on a geographical basis. Amon Düül II will appear in the second part, to be released by the end of 2019.

from what I gather seeing about which bands are featured, we're dealing more with the musical stance of the bands: here we're dealing mostly with the line of Krautrock from Can's early minimalism that will lead to Kraftwerk, Cluster and Harmonia, rather than the Embryo/ADII/Popol Vuh "school") . Jose said (in PE) that the more hippie/psychedelic bands (namely the Munich scene) will dealt with in the second part of the Rockumentary.

So yes, in a sense, one could see it as a split between the Berlin/Cologne scene and the more hippy-trippy Munich scene

=============

BTW, to get a better idea about which band came from which part of Germany, here is a thread that took me a while of research :

hell yeah man...  ADII is a volume in itself and I'll go ahead and put it on record.

Jose.. if you and Adele manage to find the  rumored porn flims that Renate was in, and get snippets of them (all in the interest of historical context of course haha) in the flim I will fund and wage a campaign to see you all not only nominated but WIN the Academy Award for best documentary.

bonus points if you include some juicy footage of Uschi Obermaier.. woo HOO.. what a dish...

Micky, i bet you’ve seen the movie Uschi Obermaier’s life was portrayed? It was all fiction though...great casting, you could actually believe that younger versions of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were actors in the movie!

Hi,

The only concern I have about all this, is that it will be another one of those things impressed by weird looking instruments, and have nothing to do with the music and its design and actual work, specially by the few band members left, whose pat in the back, they really deserve, but will never get it, other than a geriatric listing in a location that does not approve of the music itself (too much improvisation -- and the guitar solo is not where it's supposed to be according to the top ten meter!), and then, the thoughts that actually say something (EF on that one special) that means a lot ... LOT ... in this context, is totally ignored, because too many of us critics and reviewers can only count to 4 and then, only follow the beats out feet can manage ... at our age, of course!

Again, "krautrock" was not a music only thing, as many other arts were also developing with it at the time, and because of the scrawniness in a lot of rock music, many of the artists end up leaving rock behind, because it is not worth the discussion with kids!

It just does not add up ... that Wim Wenders and Werner Herzog, who started out around some of these musicians, and no doubt also got possibly inspired by their own vision, are never mentioned and everyone things that has nothing to do with nothing, and that people are not people that can also enjoy a little rock music, along side some films, or some plays ... or some paintings ... nope ... we instead get stuff that does not say anything except ... it's only rock'n'roll ... there you go, the very special and idealistic vision of progressive music!

The artistic side of these things is far too disappointing, to help make ssense of so much music and work by more than just musicians ... REAL PEOPLE with exciting ideas and work that still makes it one of the most creative of all art forces at the time. And their work showed it beautifully ... if we would let go of our prejudices about the top ten that we are consistently fed!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Micky ... all that porn has been long "lost" and "gone". Even stills and shots from various movies that included some folks like Mick and Keith, are long gone, and they both were probably not exactly saints when it comes to their involvement in these things. Heck, the bathroom scenes in 'PERFORMANCE" alone are good enough to make the film X-Rated, another issue at the time that hurt this film!

Uschi, as shown in that film, is more of a doll than a person that is an object of enjoyment for many folks, not just Mick or Keith. I didn't dislike it, but you can tell the film was kinda hidden and secondary ... like Keith and Mick give a damn about what anyone says about them!

Oh well, who is to say that Alice B. Toklas was not doing the same thing to a heck of a lot of writers and artists at another time and place ... at least things were a bit more acceptable in some places, but the small town attitudes in these things nowadays, will hurt these efforts and prevent it from blooming forth as a valuable document for the time and place.

Best of luck ... wish I could afford to help but I can't on my not enough peanuts income!

Latest Update!: Malcolm Mooney, first singer of CAN has donated 50 limited edition photo prints (8.5” x 11”) of the back cover of the original 1969 album “The Can ‎– Monster Movie (Made In A Castle With Better Equipment)”, autographed by CAN members. This album is owned by Malcolm Mooney and it is the only known fully band signed first printing. The photo perk is printed in 130lb glossy paper AND PERSONALLY AUTOGRAPHED BY MALCOLM MOONEY on the back side! The perk's name is “Yoo Doo Right” (only $25) and (we assume) Krautrock fans would love this treat. Visit the live campaign here: https://igg.me/at/krautrock

no in fact I have not.. I don't get out much.. in fact the only movies I've seen the last few years are some of the Star Wars flicks.. and yours haha..

how sad is that.. anyhow not really a flick kind of a guy.  but that sounds like that would be really interesting! If the TV didn't have an inch of dust on it and I even knew where or how to rent movies (Blockbusters?) I'd check it out.  She did live a life we mere mortals can only dream of, and that coming from one who feels he was not cheated from living life to the fullest.

oh man that was a bit of an inside joke..  first off Renate, hell the sounds of her voice, sets my loins afire. Add in the Balidie ADII quiz here some months ago where her participating in German porn.. sh*t....

*long pull of next beer.*

sort of blows my mind.. even though I think it was a red heerring quiz option. Still.. a man can dream...

and yeah.. I will try to make some special effort to see that movie. I think I would really enjoy it, but being the tech troglodyte I am.. it might be too far an order. Then again, I guess I can just order the movie frpm Amazon. Easier than trying to rent it.

awesome man... you two rule...  of course I view this is a mere appetizer to the RPI installment... I can't wait to see what you all do with that. You might need 3 volumes and a generous helping of me and Raff to do that scene full justice.
