I know that some Fusion bands like Return to Forever and The Mahavishnu Orchestra are included in this website. I don`t know why Jean-Luc Ponty is not included in this website. I have some of his albums:"Aurora", "Fables", "Storytelling", "No Absolute Time" and "Live at Chene Park". I know that he also played with The Mahavishnu Orchestra and with Frank Zappa. What do you think of J.L. Ponty? Are his albums "Prog Enough" to be included in this website?

I think so but French fusion musicians are so
smooth in transitions, intercourse and timechanges
that the harsh ear is not accustom to their dexterity.


which brings to question many italian artists also.

The JL P issue has been discussed a few months back!

If you use the search function, you should find it no problem

Ponty had some excellent fusion albums in the 75 to 79 era.
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

My favourite tune is "renaissance" on Aurora. It makes me almost cry.

i think the best era is more 1970/1976

Yeah, he really should be here. There was a thread about him, and almost all people agreed that he should be added, but nothing happened.

I'm still investigating his albums, so far I have "Enigmatic Ocean" and "Aurora". Both excellent!

Thanks. I didn`t know that there was another thread about J.L.P.`s music. But I also think that he should be included in Progarchives.

I've always looked at JLP as probably the most symphonic of fusion artists. My favs are the back to back Aurora, Imaginary Voyage and Enigmatic Ocean albums which the latter introduced us to a then unknown Alan Holdsworth (UK & Bruford).
