My question isn't whats the best album cover. My question is what cover is just as progressive as the music on that album? If there were an album cover that represents prog as far as art or pictures, which one would it be. Not the cover that's on the best prog cd, or your favorite cover, the cover that is "progressive" as far as pictures go.

My choice is  , This is a cover that is a perfect picture of the music, and really change album covers afterwards. Before, covers consisted of a band and the name of the album, but this is just a picture of a scared/ugly person. Brilliant.

 second choice is

, there are many elements of spirit, space, nature, and an obscure picture of the band on this cover. God know's how long I've spent staring at this trying to interpret it, then one day I found a big image of it and I finnally figured out what was going on in it.

And just so I can keep this thread on the front page, what's your favorite Porcupine tree cd?

I think perhaps Foxtrot, because it has such meaning along with the album itself, but I'm not sure what that is, because peter gabriel was nuts. Other candidates would be ITCOTKC for sure, or Discipline.  The cover explains the intricate way the rhythm is continuous and full, but doesn't take over itself and it can keep going. Or maybe Animals, becuase it just so odd that roger waters would do that, hahaha.

Don't know of any specific cover that might represent progressive music, but there is certainly one artist who does- and I'm sure I don't need to say Roger Dean

No one has mentioned TAAB...... very innovative idea for the time (with a little bit of nonsense to spice things up)

I also agree about 'In the Court', & 'Foxtrot'........ i dunno about u guys but i very much prefer the 70's style of covermaking with a lot of 'artwork'....... rather than the computer generated stuff done mostly today

This cover is every bit as weird as the music contained within.

Same as some already suggested: ITCOTCK and Lizard

Plus VdGG covers (not Godbluff or Still Life).

Non-prog, but I do think Led Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti" cover tells a lot about the music..., plus it was innovative at the time also.

James.
