Fundametal Flaw in the Archives

I have to say I wrote a letter to the Administrator of the site and wailed at him about the EXCESSIVE number of reviews of certain CDs...DT's 'TOT' & 'Octavarium' come to mind, there should be some sort of 'cap' on the amount for each album...otherwise the same CDs are constantly being reviewed over and over. How many more 'CTTE' or 'Dark side..' reviews do we need??? I think it is pointless.

Judging by your examples I like the idea. (Farewell to Kings is not among the most over-reviewed ones.) Also Friede's undoubted usefulness  becomes bigger if she doesn't write only about badly known albums. It's very important to write on them but I agree with the forementioned idea of getting to know reviewer's preferences better with the help of reviews on albums the reader already knows.

Yeah, we all really should write on less known albums we happen to know. But then there's this large 'middle class' of albums with something like 20-40 ratings (*). It makes a lot of sense to review them too. They are sort of basic ingredient for an interesting and accessible front page and serve as keys to reviewers' tastes, as the bands/albums are known by an average advanced progfan. And there are really plenty of them! No fear of same albums popping up in short time (if people avoid writing 'counter-reviews' inspired by front page reviews).

(*) Notice that the number of ratings is NOT necessarily the number of reviews; often you'll find that there are only few worthy reviews.
