I guess you probably can't do anything about such reviews? Some of the things he says are clearly wrong, it appears as though he never got to disc 2. It is an appropriate review of disc 1, though.
Now this is just plainly awful.
This is probably no abuse, but just poorly written ... it doesn't give you any information how this album relates to the other DT albums. Also, he doesn't mention the differences between the two discs, which is one of the things that make this double disc set interesting.
Am I too harsh?

Mike, there is already a thread of the type you describe. http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1397 Reviews such as those posted by Symphonic age, and before him Andreas Salvador have been written in a language other than English. They have then been run through an online translator to convert them to English. This gives rise to the literal, and often amusing results. Some of us had a good laugh at the results in the thread I've linked to, but I would emphaise we were laughing at the on line translators efforts, not the reviewers. I'm sure in their native tongue, such reviews are eloquent and well written. At least the reviewers have made the effort to comply with the site's guidelines and post in English.

NIGHTWISH - Once (2004)
Review (Permanent link) by pantof @ 11:13:00 AM EST, 7/5/2005 — ok people, this is not prog, i repeat:this is not prog, it is just trivial power metal. The voice is ok, the instrumental is ok too, but the band is just a collectin of greedy people (they dont want prog, they want just money). they do comercial work. My last review was dedicated to this album, but now i can't see it here, so i decided to write another one. no more words..because i don't speak english
Definitely inaprpriate.
1 star only because he thinks they wanted to earn money from selling the album? And yet he claims the music to be good?
Delete please.

And another... poor Nightwish - they seem to have a deathwish... NIGHTWISH - Once (2004) — Come on! It's not a progressive masterpiece, it's not even a prog! I agree with "pantof". It is a good power metal album whereas this site is about proggresive rock. The power metal is getting more and more popular lately, so I reckon that you should listen "Once"to have some opinion about whole genre. However I feel that this album shouldn't be reviewed here.
And pantof seems upset that his "review" was deleted...

Finally another Octavarium "review"
DREAM THEATER - Octavarium (2005) Review (Permanent link) by Trev @ 8:27:22 AM EST, 7/5/2005 — Reviews stating the why and what not of the album are simply superfluous to its enjoyment. It either moves you or it doesn't and 'Octavarium' has certainly done the former. I don't care if certain tracks sound like 'U2' or what tempo they are in. I won't compare this album to DT's previous ones because each one stands alone.I am moved, period. Edited by Certif1ed |

Review (Permanent link) by Drew @ 2:23:39 PM EST, 7/6/2005 — Porcupine Tree IS progressive Rock- and you know what? This album also deserves 5 stars- I'm so tired of people saying that this band and that band are not prog rock- ITS A GREAT ALBUM_ LETS LEAVE IT AT THAT! Pop music? Your ridicolous! (previous revirewer of Lightbulb Sun) I rate the albums that I love just like everyone else does- this album and Lightbulb sun are amazing- by far the best from Porcupine Tree- and 5 stars all over!

DREAM THEATER - Scenes From A Memory Metropolis Part II (1999)
Review (Permanent link) by brian @ 9:08:24 AM EST, 7/7/2005 — This album has to be the cheesiest imature piece of music i have heard. Playing guitar at 300mph doesnt make a good guitarist or haveing a 10000 piece drum kit doesnt make you a great drummer. This album shows that you dont need these things to create great music.
This album has no soul or emotion, this music is a platform for these musicians to show how 'great' they can play. That is not what music is about. ...and where is the review?

BIGLIETTO PER L'INFERNO - Biglietto Per L'Inferno (1974)
Review (Permanent link) by Erik Neuteboom @ 5:14:47 PM EST, 7/9/2005 SPECIAL COLLABORATION
—
ATTENTION: this is a review about the live CD Live 1974.
Biglietto Per L'Inferno is an interesting progrock band from the early Seventies featuring
members who play a wide range of instruments: flute, flugelhorn, Gemorgan, Minimoog,
Hammond organ, piano and acoustic – and electric guitars along drums and bass. As you
would expect the music from Biglietto Per L’Inferno (Italian for Ticket To Hell) is varied and
contains many shifting moods. The first song consists of a brass section, organ runs and
fiery electric guitar. The other five tracks has echoes from Jethro Tull including cheerful
rhythms, mellow organ and lots of flute play. The Italian vocals sound inspired. The
recording quality is like a good bootleg and the compositions has more the structure of a
jam. If you like Jehtro Tull and the early Italian progrock, this CD is recommended. ------------------------- I have just reported a special collaborator. Why? It should be evident after the first sentence. He is not reviewing the album "Biglietto per L'inferno" but a live album that was released in 2004/2005 and called "Live 1974". This album has never been added to the Archives but it is totally unacceptable to review it under some other title. Note: Normally his reviews are helpful but here he most certainly has no idea what he is doing. Must be removed!!!! Edited by geezer |

YES - Close to the Edge (1972)
Review (Permanent link) by Júlio Borja @ 5:20:27 AM EST, 7/10/2005 — Close to the Edge - like Fragile, Tales From Topographic Oceans and Relayer - is part of the cultural heritage of the 20th century humankind should be proud of. It´s ART at its highest. Listening to Close to the Edge for the past 30 years has made me a better person.

MAGMA - Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandoh (1973)
Review (Permanent link) by Terje G. @ 11:58:48 AM EST, 7/12/2005 — This is one of my favourite albums. To you who gave one star; have you ever heard classical music that uses a choir before? That's the inspiration for the repetition. Anyway, I love the way everyone plays together like if the music flow through them. This is just great. Also love 1,001 degree centigrade
I don't know if this is actually a review.

KING CRIMSON - In the Court of the Crimson King (1969)
Review (Permanent link) by Lautremont @ 11:56:42 PM EST, 7/12/2005 — For the last review (heidi)...WHAT???.....(quote) :"I actually feel the album should be not only re-recorded but completly re-performed,but not by Fripp but given too one of the new Scandinavian Death Metal acts to give it what it truly needs, that being (life),because all the songs are basically there and can be salvaged. The entire album should be re- worked in a fashion that brings the necessary weight and depth that all these songs should have recieved ,and given modern production".
this is the most weird review of "in the court.." a scandinavian death metal band playing K.C.??... What the hell is this? It certainly isn't a review.

PINK FLOYD - The Wall (1979)
Review (Permanent link) by Dwight @ 10:32:58 PM EST, 7/16/2005 — Whoow! Trip and a half. The Wall is a great concept album, and I don't car if Waters wrote like everthing except for a few. Waters is the best member if he can write great material like this. The Wall is a great piece, and people everywhere should listen.
