That was his point: there is no difference.

However, it is a flawed point since coke is also Cocaine.

I was thinking someone would say that. My official response will be:

OH? REALLY?!?

Being from Georgia (the state in the United States, not the country), you pretty much have the history of Coca-cola drilled into your head, but it's fun. Especially if you ever get to visit the coca-cola museum..which kicks definite ass.

Coca-cola was invented by John S. Pemberton, he made it for medicinal use, and early forms of coca-cola had alcohol AND the coca leaf...and..Cocaine is a refined extract of the coca leaf (coca-cola was originally a cocawine).

During an EARLY alcohol prohibition in Fulton county, the county inwhich the cocawine was being produced, Pemberton was forced to change his product, and adding carbonated water it as a result.

The syrup had 5oz of coca leaf per gallon. That would basically make you high..

I just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.

As I stated before, nobody put the Roll in Rock 'n' Roll. R'n'R was there first!

Or are you just...

...pulling my leg?

There IS a difference between Rock and Rock'n'roll. Rock'n'roll was there first.

It's all rock'n roll to Americans, but the distinction is more honoured by Brits. Rock 'n roll is pure entertainment, rock SOMETIMES has pretensions to Art. But any discerning listeners will find Art in the lyrics of Chuck Berry, or the recording techniques used by Buddy Holly. It's all Knock 'n Knowall....

According to my history textbook last year, Rock and Roll was a ethnic euphemism for sex by African Americans that became the genre's name as a sort of inside joke against white america.

Who put the "roll" in rock 'n' roll?  Could it have been Charles Calhoun who wrote the song Shake Rattle and Roll?

What the heck is the difference between rock and rock 'n' roll?  What's the difference between Coke and Coca Cola?
