Zeus was known to take many forms in his day, so boo boo is right on. I agree that TMV should be higher, at least a titan, but I like his placement of Tool and primus in that list. good stuff man! |

BUDDY THAT IS YOUR PERSONAL OPINION, THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE RIGHT. FLOYD STARTED EVERYTHING MY PERSONAL, BUT THAT IS MY PERSONAL OPINION, THAT DOES NOT MEAN I AM RIGHT. JUST BECAUSE I DO NOT LIKE A ROCK BAND I DO NOT NOCK THEM OUT OR I WON'T RECONIZE THEIR POSITION IN THE PROG WORLD BUDDY. I DO NOT LIKE MUCH GENTLE GIANT I THINK IS SELF-INDULGENT TO THE TOP , BUT THEY HAVE A VERY SPECIAL PLACE IN THE PROG WORLD AND FUSION. YES AND ELP HAVE A LOT REAL BAD ALBUMS FLOYD MAYBE (ONE) SPECIALLY YES, BECAUSE THEY HAVE MORE ALBUMS THAN ELP, BUT YES HAVE SOME REAL BRILLIANT ALBUMS TOO. YOU CAN TALK ABOUT PROG ROCK WITHOUT TALKING ABOUT YES OR ELP. FLOYD WAS NOT ABOUT VISTOUSITY MUSICIANSHIP SHOW OFF LIKE YES, GENTLE GIANT OR ELP SPECIALLY ELP, BUT THEY WERER ABOUT OTHER THINGS. LIKE THE SEARCH OF EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC AND LATER THEY WERE ABOUT THE SEARCHING OF HUMAN FEELINGS SPECIALLY ROGERS ALBUMS. I THINK I SAID ANOUGH, BUT KEEP YOUR PERSONAL OPINION LIMITED THANKS... |

OK I DO NOT LIKE TO ARGUEE ABOUT MY PESONAL OPINION BUT OK THAT THE FIEST FLOYD ALBUM HAVE SOME POP SONG,BUT THAT WAS SUGESTED BUY THE RECORD COMPANY SO THEY CAN MAKE MONEY AND MAKE THE FLOYD A POP BAND BUT IN 1966 BEFORE GENESIS GENTLE GIANT, YES, KING CRIMSON THE NICE, CAMEL AND THE REST FOYD BESIDE SOFT MACHINE WARE KING OF THE FREAK OUT WORLD THEY WERE THE ONLY BAND THAT WHEN THEY PLAY LIVE THEY DID NOT CARE ABOUT THIER HIT SINGLE OR DID NOT WANT TO PLEASE THEIR AUDIENCES THEY JUST WANTED TO JAM AND CREAT SOME FREAK OUT MUSIC. THEIR OF PROG BANDS WERE WEARING DIAPERS. |

So once again here are your choices...YES, King Crimson, ELP, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Van Der Graaf Generator. [/QUOTE] I'm glad you throw in VDGG at the last minute but how can you leave out Rush, Kansas and Camel? |

But, Darksideone, isnīt the idea with forums that you are supposed to ventilate your personal opinions, to see what reactions they cause? If people agree or not. Take care. |

Genesis has always been my favorite. Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Live, S.E.B.T.P., T.L.L.D.O.B., A.T.O.T.T., Wind and Wuthering, Seconds Out, and the live tracks from both Archives are staples of my prog listening. Even though they did "progress" (commercially speaking), on each and every album they released since " And Then There Were Three", they've always retained their sound (think progressive here). Most of their best stuff never got much airplay. (ie. Deep In the Motherlode, Duchess, Dodo/Lurker, Second Home By the Sea, Domino: The Last Domino, The Brazilian, Fading Lights). Banks (one of the best ever on the keyboards , imho), Rutherford and Collins have withstood the test of time. (longevity) My second favorite, though not on the list, has been Marillion (Fish era). Misplaced Chilhood is high on my list of all-time best listening. Third is King Crimson, especially with Tony Levin (best ever) and Bill Bruford in the band. These guys sound exceptional live. |
