Not exactly prog, but I'd like to see him here, Vai too and Cozy Powell!

hmmmmm, well, I guess you could say he's not. I mean, it is possible to still like non-prog bands, or is that a sin??

Satriani is great, and sure you can think of him as prog with his experimental guitar music, but he's certainly not prog all the time. And if we let him in here, there's soon a whole bunch of guitarists (or fans of them, to be more precise) knocking on the door! Let Satriani remain the guitar hero he is.
Currently listening to:
- Andromeda
- Pagan's Mind
- Kamelot

There is nothing wrong with liking non prog bands and artists.I like quite a lot of music other than prog, but prog is my favorite kind of music. While Satriani is a great guitarist,he is not prog, and therefore shouldn't be included on this PROG site.

He's as much Fusion as Sherinian. In my book, Satriani and Vai are shred and metal influenced Fusion.

Considering that we have had quite a few suggestions for different artists who are not necessarily prog but have prog related material at times and like Led Zep, Queen, Deep Purple for example, can be cited at times as a musical reference on certain prog albums on this archive  could  we -

have a progarchive related section to do with music that is not prog but is accessible on this site so that people could access it and compare and contrast it to the stuff people are trying to relate it to.

He's quite innovative ... but Vai is more diverse. But they both have lots of soul.

Not as much as JP though  On the G3 tours, he was the best sounding and the most variant of the three.
