i have spirals in hyperspace and jurassic shift, both are great, it's like techno prog i guess

they are coming to new york city soon, wish i could see them live

Only ever seen them at the ''Phoenix'' festival a few years back which was in Stratford-upon-avon,England..quite a travel for the week but well worth it.

Welcome to ProgArchives!  Hope you will find it fun!

I have heard Spirals and, to tell you the truth, I wasn't that impressed.  I guess it's good for instrumental rock-jazz fusion.  But it simply didn't "move" me.  Still, I plan to give it another listen (before I review it), and listen to at least one other OT album before I walk away.  Any ideas on a second choice?

Im a huge ozrics fan, saw them live once with tunnels.

If you want to get into them i recommend erpland.



Mysticum Arabicola is one of my all time favororite prog songs.

Hi Maani,  I got into OT via the traditional route, ie Gong/Hillage/Hawkwind. From the age of 11 I was a real progsnob, and as such, was initially reticent in my acceptance of  the affore mentioned space rockers. That is, untill I first discovered the effect that altered states of conciousness can have on ones musical tastes, at 16.

That said, "Erpland" has something most progheads should enjoy, herbally assisted or not!

I love Ozrics as a live act, but I only have a few albums. I wouldn't totally agree with those who say that you only really need one Ozrics album, but if you've got Afterswish, Jurassic shift or Erpland and Waterfall Cities or Curious Corn you've heard pretty much all you need to hear unless you're a total fan. As for hebal assistance, it's not essential but it certainly helps.

My personal preferences are with Ozrics early music such as 'Erpsongs' & 'Tantric Obstacles'.

Don't walk away they are very good.

darn! they so close to me, but i still would have to travel a state! oriz tencle on of the strongest prog bands out ther right now! Theres Somehtying sturring outsid ethe usa... maybee another early 70's will creep out of the muck!

ozric rule! i recommend jurassic shift and arborescence. the latest albums sound more techno prog: absolutely impressive! if you want to know how sounds a modern improvement of steve hillage - green and some gong albums, then get ozric ASAP!

I listened to the Ozrics alot in the 90's, during my brief run in with 'rave' culture. Despite being a psychedelic rock band they had a big following among pill popping techno heads, and indeed their drummer and keyboard player ( I think) went on to form 'Eat Static' a mediocre and predictable techno project.

The Ozrics were always great live. I think their best albums were 'Erpland' 'Strangitude' and 'Jurassic Shift'

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I do like Hawkwind, yes, but my username was chosen at random to be honest. I stuck my hand in a box of old records of mine, and the first one to come out was 'Chronicle of the Blacksword' by Hawkwind. I thought 'That'll do'.

Hawkwind were hit and miss, and without wishing to stray too far off topic, I think their best era was around 1980, the Levitation period with Ginger Baker on drums, and Lloyd Langton on lead guitar. Loved the Calvert years too

Start a Hawkwind thread, and I'll be right there..
