How To Party Like It's 1969
Here's How:
1. Go up to your attic and find all albums from 1964 through 1969. Dust off your old turntable and hook it up.

2. Have a good supply of gatefold-cover albums around for rolling joints.

3. Replace all the lightbulbs in the house with black lights. Hang plastic beads from all your doorways.

4. Cover family portraits and paintings with cheap replicas of psychedelic posters. Hang neon-colored signs with 'Make Love Not War!' 'Black Is Beautiful!' 'Ban the Bomb!' and 'Hell no we won't go!'

5. Move your good furniture to the basement. Toss large pillows, blankets and beanbag chairs around the party area.

6. Lava lamps have made a comeback and can be found in New Age and music stores. Buy one. It won't be the same if you don't.

7. Hair should be pulled into a ponytail (for men) or braided (for women). Those who have short hair or no hair can use a headband or strategically wrapped bandana.

8. Tie-died t-shirts and faded jeans are required. Bellbottoms or cutoffs are even better. Optional: Nehru jackets, Birkenstocks and Dashikis.

9. Put a half-keg of beer in your bathtub and surround it with ice. Don't worry about scratching the tub enamel. It's 1969 again and we don't care about those things.

10. Provide condoms if sexual activity is anticipated. It's really the year 2000 and we do care about those things.

11. Music must include Iron Butterfly, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, the Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Janis Joplin, Canned Heat, Country Joe & the Fish, Sly & the Family Stone, Ten Years After and the Doors.

12. Invite Wavy Gravy. He has nothing better to do.

13. Refer to your spouse as 'my old lady' or 'my old man.' Use the expressions 'groovy,' 'far out,' 'dig it,' 'right on' and 'outtasight'.

14. Read from the works of Allen Ginsberg, Allen Cohen, Abbie Hoffman, Ken Kesey and Jack Kerouac. Wait until everyone's high and incite political arguments.

15. Relax and have fun! Tomorrow it's back to reality.

Tips:
If you no longer own albums, go to the nearest used record shop and buy some. Many can be found for a few dollars.
If you no longer own a turntable, most recordings have been reissued on CD. Only use a CD player in extreme circumstances and keep it hidden.
Don't take the brown acid.

Sounds like a lot of fun. What about The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who,  Creedence Clearwater Revival, Steppenwolf and don't forget the incense.

One HUGE omission, and that's the Moody Blues.
You can't ignore In Search of the Lost Chord for a definite 60s occasion!
And Jesus said unto John, "come forth and receive eternal life..."
Unfortunately, John came fifth and was stuck with a toaster.

The biggest ommissions musically are the Woodstock OST, Shocking Blue and Pink Floyd.

Don't forget to park a psychedelic VW Camper van on your lawn and get in one of those oil-lamps. Most "dirt shops" sell them these days - so what the heck? Get two!

I cant believe this myself, but Country Joe McDonald is playing the Cropredy Festival this year. It could be interesting if he tries to instigate the 'Fish Cheer' to 20,000 middle aged folk fans
