Just another meandering thought....but
Can someone offer their extensive knowledge (or completely made up definitions) of the derivation of some of our great band's names?
i.e...
RUSH - Ruled Under the Hand of Satan ?? (or Rule Under the Hand of Someone....called Shirley)
Genesis - some bloke with a beard
Yes - optimism ?? (or just the opposite to No)
Spock's Beard - Some bloke with a beard but only in a parallell universe
Dream Theater - A representation of an artisticlly challenging imaginery world (or falling asleep at the cinema)
Camel - Sarcastic equestrian enthusiast or chain smokers
Gentle Giant - Mystical fanatasy character (or the opposite of an angry dwarf??

Spocks Beard is from the band members wondering what mr. spock would look like in a alternate universe...or something like that.
Genesis cos they couldn't use Exodus or something like that.
King Crimson is satan.
Dream Theater is derived from their love of broadway musicals, more specifically Cats.

are Pantagruels Nativity and The Advent of Panurge. They are both based
on parts of the famous works of scatalogical satire "Pantagruel" and
"Gargantua" by Francois Rabelais. His work concerned the lives of
various giants and was meant to be extremely shocking and damning of
the times. I've not read either of them, but would very much like to.
Anyway, I'll say no more. Let Google do the hard work for me. 
Oh, and Jethro Tull is a reference to the agricultural pioneer who
invented the seed drill. No, honestly. Legend has it that Ian and co
weren't having much like getting gigs and would think up a new name
each week and pretend to be a new band. Thinking up good names at this
rate was tiresome and it got to the point any-old-thing-will-do. Alas,
the week they were discovered their name was "Jethro Tull" and after
the first single it was too late for a 2nd opinion. Anderson claims to
hate the band name.
