H'm Lets see now....Having the complete Organ works of Bach on CD and listening regularly doesn't make me a fan of the Church Organ ??? Wrong again TF....... I love Church Organ, and Wakeman uses is sublimely in Awaken ! - Also used to great effect by Par Lindh - who is possibly the best practitioner in prog music - The three Fates is amateurish by comparisson, I was expecting a LOT more but thats the typical ELP fan going OTT - ELP never gets beyond the ordinary - to scale the heights they needed a classic album without at least 3 turkeys on it......!!!! |

I listened to the Three fates courtesy of your MP3 collection - Not very impressed at all - Somebody told me the church organ was awesome - sorry but it's the worse use of Church Organ in ANY prog work...............
Your destroying the track using MP3 anyway,no wonder.

explain why the Awaken Church organ sounds awesome (MP3 at 192K's per second) and yet Emersons doesn't ?? Sorry but your argument is invalid, Goodnight ! Edited by Swinton MCR |

So far you're still only discussing the first fate... which is simple for a reason; because it meant as contrast to the beauty of the 2nd fate.. and the intensity of the third. And I'm not very impressed with your taste if you find that second fate to be amateurish... and I find the first fate just as inspiring as what Wakeman did in Awaken... The complete organ works of Bach... is just that.. church music... I wouldn't call what Keith does church music.. even tho its played on a church organ...

Good point, 3F8s - I don't think anybody would dispute your knowledge of Keith Emerson's organ |

No it's not invalid. If you use your PC/MP3 as your musical source you really have no idea of audio quality.Specialist hi-fi is my living as well as hobby so try telling me about sound quality then!..i'd love a laugh.

Well I like "Still You turn Me On" and BSS and Pictures.I also like most of their OTT instrumental workouts like Fanfare,Hoedown etc. ELP are rather like that Pot Noodle advert where the guy get's slapped for his depraved tastes-they are too embarrassing to mention in mixed company. I would have to agree.....a guilty pleasure, admittedly. Most non-proggers find their music eye-rolling. The worst thing is I really can't blame them. I'd rather admit I was gay than an ELP fan in some circles. |

You have a strange way of showing your liking for ELP then ..or do you just indulge in baiting ELP fans as a sport? |

Everything is fair game.We are told that their is much humour in ELP's work, and at times they make me laugh out loud! But the fans tend to be a mirthless bunch. |

Generalisation as usual. Why? Can't we show a bit of passion for our favourite group? Is that hard to take? I guess it is.Oh well never mind. The world will keep on turning.

I would agree with Reed as well. I like ELP. I own 4 of their cds....man...for some reason their self titled 1st lp is REALLY hard to find and I always have other interests when ordering online...more rare bands...I tend to not like their silly tunes unless it is an instrumental and some of their tunes are taken SO seriously by the band it is humourous. Not including you Richardh, i would say ELP fans tend to be overzealous. |
