Topic: A love prog song Posted: April 28 2004 at 21:43 |
Imagine you are at your home with your girlfriend, or with your wife celebrating your mother-in-law took an airplane to another country, or any romantic situation... Lights are turned off and the girl decides to hear a love song, but your radio doesn't work, and you must put one of your prog cds (at least one song). Which could be? ![In Love](http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/11/11_1_206.gif)

Well, prog would not normally be my music of choice for the task, but ELP's "Still, You Turn Me On" with Lake's fairer-sex-melting voice, should turn her on, and Yes' "And You And I" has a nice sentiment. Genesis' "Cinema Show" is also good.
Anthony Phillips - The Geese and the Ghost is a great choice as an overall album for your nefarious purposes, with the lovely Collins-sung ballad "God, If I Saw Her Now" a sure-fire, romantic mood-maker. Light the candles, and kindle her flame -- a VERY BEAUTIFUL SONG! ![Thumbs Up](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif) ![Big smile](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif) ![Approve](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley14.gif) ![Clap](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif) ![Heart](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley27.gif)
When it comes to loving though (as opposed to simply gazing into each other's eyes), you can't beat Tangerine Dream. Exit or Underwater Sunlight are good bets. ![Wink](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)
Good thread!![Clap](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif)

I agree about Anthony Phillips. 'God if I saw her now', 'Sistine', 'Boulevard of fallen leaves'... lots of great songs for this purpose.
I also think 'Soon' from The Gates of Delirium would be a wise choose. But being careful not playing anything from before or after this excerpt ![](smileys/smiley4.gif)
Rick Wakeman's 'Romance of the Victorian Age' is one of his best piano albums, and I, in fact, use it for Romantic purposes... ![](smileys/smiley9.gif)

If only David Surkamp wasn't he vocalist for Pavlov's Dog the band could have made it. When I am feeling romantic towards my wife I throw on Symptom Of the Universe by Black Sabbath or Space Ritual in it's entirety by Hawkwind with the stereo cranked to 11. She always appreciates it when I do this for her.

WHAT ABOUT IF THE RELATIONSHIP GOES WRONG
HOW ABOUT ZAPPAS BROKEN HEARTS ARE FOR A**HOLES?
BIKE BY PINK FLOYD IS A LOVE SONG OF SORTS(IN A STRANGE WAY)
I HAD A FREIND WHO WOULD PLAY RUBICON AND PHEADRA BY T.G WHEN HE WAS..ER......"GETTING IT ON"(THATS AS POLITE AS I CAN PUT IT)
BUT BEING THE SENSITIVE AND CARING MAN(NOT TO MENTION IN TUNE WITH A WOMANS NEEDS) THAT I AM I WOULD PROBABLY PUT ON SOMETHING LIKE SEVERAL SPECIES OF SMALL FURRY ANIMALS GATHERED TOGETHER IN A CAVE AND GROOVING WITH A PICT
AS YOU CAN PROBABLY IMAGINE...I HAVE NOT HAD MANY DATES OF LATE!![](smileys/smiley5.gif) ![](smileys/smiley36.gif) ![](smileys/smiley9.gif)

I'm with you on that one brother - my wife & I regularly sing along to this one.
However, Bay Of Kings by Hackett - one of the sweetest acoustic guitar albums; perfect, for that, er, 'special' moment.

I agree with most of mentioned songs, specially Anthony Phillips' "God, If I Saw Her Now"... beautiful song! And what about Queen's "Love Of My Live"? Not from a really prog band, but it works OK
