Plain and simple, Nightiwish is not prog. They are more pop then they are prog, I mean c'mon.
Yes, they are currently infiltrating the confines of our dearly beloved. Let's take care of this site. Cheers Edited by billyshears'67 |

A brief description of Nightwish's sound...
Nightwish is melodic pop/metal with operatic vocals. If you're from Europe than surely you've heard of them. They're pretty darn big over there. Peace & take care |

They're music for teenage goth whores who senslessly slash their veins and say that God doesn't exist. I got to know a whole damn lot

Since I have all Nightwish albums and think they're great, that must mean I'm a teenage goth whore. Hmm,I genuinely didn't know that. Thank god for Prog Archives, otherwise where would I be? Might have to resort to start thinking for myself! |

Used to like them, now I'm indifferent. But I'd never have called them prog.

I prefer listen to Nightwish than listen to Styx... I prefer listen to my mother in low screaming at me than listen to Styx, in the other hand. Edited by mirco |

"Sucking" doesn't equal non-prog. I rate their first album quite high, after that it became a keyboard show. The rest of the albums just have a few long-lived songs each. Not prog though. |

I'm not sure what the aim of this poll is. We know that once bands are added to the site, they are not removed. If you don't like them, just ignore them. If you don't think they're prog, say so if you like. By why the poll? Personally, I think there is enough pomp and adventure to their music to make them a marginal case for inclusion. |

I respect your right to opposition, but I recently got the 80's rock band AUTOGRAPH emitted from the site and they had been featured on the site. So it is possible for bands to be removed. For those who think I completely dislike NIGHTWISH, well, I don't. I even went to see them live, but I accept them for what they are. Peace & take care |

i just wish we could remove all the progressive metal bands on this site, save for maybe a few bands that arent always considered metal, like dream theater honestly, i am listening to the two Devin Townsend tracks available on this site, this is prog? um no I still can't believe Iced Earth was being considered, I dont give a sh*t that that Gettysburgh song is wicked long. Manowar has a thirty minute long song No, I don't think Manowar is prog, but they are a hell of a lot more prog than f**king Nightwish. I still say you might as well throw Black Sabbath in the Prog Metal section, although not a prog band, they are a tons more prog than f**king Nightwish. ok, on a serious note, despite the fact I think we should yank the entire Prog Metal section off this site, if it stays I do believe Blind Guardian should be added. I would say their last three albums were prog metal and each release is becoming more and more progressive. Their whole career has progressed to a more sophisticated form. Listen to their first album and their last, you wouldnt believe it was the same band. Just listen to And then their was silence... edit: on top of that Blind Guardian have played a bunch of forms of metal; speed, thrash, power, folk, and symphonic oh f**king f**k Aaron Edited by Aaron |

No seriously.
Please don't consider Nightwish to be Finnish, they are Scandinavian... With reference to another thread |
