Topic: One album forevever on a desert island. Posted: February 25 2005 at 03:22 |
If you were stuck on a desert island for eternity and you could only listen to "One" album..what would it be?
Personally I would go with Pink Floyd - The Darkside of the Moon.....its not my favorite album..but ive probably heard it more then any progressive album..and its still great, every song.

Wouldn't CAMEL's "Mirage" be the most appropriate?
But I'd probably go with anything by Neil Young.

If you are on the desert island , it is not one anymore. It becomes Gilligan's Island.
I hate desert islands lists
Nude from Camel talks about a jap warmonger stuck on a desert island four some thirty years . Do you think he or Robinson Crusoe had fun on those islands????
No electricity to play your fave music.

Wouldn't Fish's angry lyrics and general misery be a bit too much to handle day after day on a desert island where I assume your psyche might not be in complete equilibrium anyway?

It would have to be my favourite album 'Brain Salad Surgery' although I might be tempted to go with Martin Orfords 'Classical Music and Popular Songs' as that is such a nice varied colection of instrumentals and songs.

If life on the island became unbearable,a Britney Spears album would remind me of the mass of stupidity outside of the island and create a very good incentive to stay there anyway. For good!

Maybe its just me, but I always wonder on these threads, how do you end up with only one cd? Anywhere I travel long enough to have any cds along with me, I always have a handful, you know, four or five at least. Did the others get broken or lost in a crash? Did the boat sink and you were only able to grab one? Did you have time to choose or did you grab the closest and start swimming?
Anyway, Yes -TFTO
Perhaps not their best, but I love it. It is also a very diverse offering and there are two cds and bonus tracks. If you get to choose, why not go for a bit of volume, as long as you enjoy it of course. I have loved this album since 74'.
Why not a box set? That would be better. If a box set was within reach and I liked it, I think I would grab it and go.
If this is really just searching for an all time favorite, that is really tough and it changes through time. I think I would pass on newer or current favorites and go with something that has demonstrated it can stand the test of time. Tales is still not a bad choice but I think I would go with Jethro Tull's TAAB. Good choice Jethro!
