Since Pain of Salvation's catalogue is so diverse, I thought it'd be interesting to see how others felt.

I also didn't want to include their amazing live album "12:5" because, well, it's a live album.

P.S. You can read my Pain of Salvation interview in the Forum section for Interviews.

Peace & take care

I have all those albums and it is really hard to choose, in a way they all sound like one very long album. I actually have a really hard time to seperate a song from another, the music style changes so often, it's more like a section after a section rather than song after a song. The only album of them I don't really like is Be, there is not enough music on that album, just random crap!

Ohhhh, this is a tough one. Both "One hour by the concrete lake" and "The perfect element pt. 1" have some of my absolute favorite PoS-moments on them but I still voted for "Remedy lane" because I think it's the most consistent release from beginning to end so far.

All the best,

Be is monumentally brilliant, and just edges it over Remedy Lane for me.

You should have included 12:5, as it's not just a live album, but a rearrangement of songs into an  extended acoustic piece, and has it's own concept, apparently.

Great band; one of my favourites in prog metal. But the only record I own so far is 12:5 (I did try and order the limited 2CD Euro version of the Perfect Element a long, long time ago but the buggers didn't send me it)

My vote went for Remedy Lane, but I could have voted for 12:5 had it been here. Yes, right, it's a live (and acoustic) album, but the songs are so redone on it that I would consider it a completely different album.

Daniel Gildenlow has a stunning voice. I almost prefer him when he plays with the Flower Kings.

Almost.

Be was the very first PoS thing I had heard, back when I bought it. I listened to it from start to finish, while reading all the lyrics. AMAZING concept album, certainly one of the most ambitious conceptual works ever. And, the live DVD is mind blowing too.

People saying BE's "random crap" just didn't understand the whole thing. In BE, the music is kinda secondary IMO. You have to go look deeper than lyrics and ideas to grasp the real concept(s) behind it.

I love this band because they DARE to do things like that or 12:5. they have the balls to do something that maybe most of their fans wont like. but they do it good, so the result is always great.

PoS > most prog metal bands out there (but I keep DT as a personal N.1 )

Remedy Lane! I love it, and Second Love is not cheesy as someone said in another thread. Great album, and the tracks Fandango and Rope Ends really stand out. And PoS is a lot better than Dream Theater.

I own all of the cds sans 'One Hour by the Concrete Lake' and 12:5, although my favorite changes everyday, most of the time it is 'Remedy Lane' with 'Be' as a runner up. But Entropia will always have a special place in my heart for it being my first Prog album in 6th grade.  Either way all that I have all is complete genius. Pain of Salvation is probably my favorite band as of late and more than likely will be for a long time.
