Hi there,

My band This Haven have just finished a new recording called "My Year Zero". It is produced and mixed by the master mind Dan Swanö (Nightingale, Edge of Sanity, Second Sky)!!!!
The recording can be downloaded at our webpage: www.thishaven.com
The music is a mix between metal, stoner, hardcore and progressive. Rooghly like a mix between Tool, King Crimson, Opeth, Kyuss and Neurosis.
It would be really cool to hear your view on our music!!

Peace
Nicklas / This Haven

Great sound - very polished and professional overall, good drive from the bass, "sensitive" and intelligent drumming and some superb, tight riffing.

There are some great songwriting touches too - although you do tend to stick with "safe" constructions and don't spring any surprises on the listener. Apart from "Lying", you tend to stick within a single sound-stage too, with very few variations.

Although the vocalist has a reasonable ear for melody, and a voice that is not unpleasant, the vocals themselves could do with some work and lack the presence that the rest of the music would seem to demand; maybe you could double-track them and dream up some harmonies.

I wouldn't describe the music as progressive though - it's classic riff-driven rock in a kind of nu-metal style; reminds me a bit of the Lost Prophets - but more stylish. In order to be truly progressive, you might want to consider introducing some keyboards and musical influences outside of the standard rock/metal templates - and work at getting the song length over 6 minutes!

Good sounds though!

Thanks for the oppinion..
Especially the " "sensitive" and intelligent drumming" cause I play the drums
So thanks you for that!!!

I still want to call our music progressive. Not mayby in a Rush and Dream Theater way, but more in Tool and King Crimson way. Not so many guitarr solos and changes in different riffs all the time, but more in playing odd timebars and have a more dark sound and feek to the music it self. We have only so far recorded only one song over 6 minutes, the songs usually end around 5 minutes. It is nothing that we with intention, it has just seemd natural to end there.

"Musical influences outside of the standard rock/metal templates"
Well work on some more ethnical sounds to music in the future. So lets see what the future has in store..

As I said before. Lots of thanks for the inputs. I am really greatful for both creative criticsism, I hope I spelling is correct, and positive feedback!
So loads of thanks Certif1ed!!!

Peace

I re-posted your original message to a Spanish-speaking forum I belong to -- perhaps you and your band will get some feedback from people from Spain or Latin America any time soon...

Regards.
