Well Danbo, being BI-Sexual improves your chances by 50% at least that´s what I´ve been told.

Might I suggest repeatedly closing a car door on your fingers for a day or two, as that would be less painful than enduring 48 continuous hours of NoMTV.

Had I more ambition, I would at this point include some ludicrously jolly smilie figure.  But why?

OKAY, guys. This has gone on long enough.

"It's" is a contracted form of "it is." That is all it ever means. (as in: "It's a cruel world," or "It's a depressing CD.")

"Its" means "of, or belonging to it." (as in: "My life has lost its meaning.")

Please try to get it right, and no more emoticons or exclamation marks, please. Life is too unrelentingly bleak for such misguided displays of emotion.

(And less colour please, Danbo, in any future posts here. All will be fittingly black when the sun inevitably burns out....)

Superciliously,

P.

Your mathematical reasoning is erroneous. Doubling the sexes available for dating purposes, from one to two, would represent an increase of 100%.

"Calc-you-later,"

P.

PS: I feel I should warn you -- having a "mate" has been proven to increase your lifespan. Why would you want to extend your sentence in this "vale of tears?" Death awaits us all; why prolong your misery?

As Jim Morrison (like most people who have ever lived, now dead -- lucky sod) observed "No one here gets out alive."

Sage words, sage words....

April Thoughts, by L. Snickett:

"April showers bring damp and mould."

"If April showers bring May flowers, May flowers exacerbate your allergies."

"Ordinarily, when something falls, one should pick it up. This is not the case with rain."

E'en the very heavens are weeping....

Lachrymosely,

P.

Why that's awfully morose, peter! you should learn to lighten up a bit. being serious does not necessarily mean being suicidal; unless you actually are serious about suicide, in which case I insist you see a therapist...

ps. I'm being sarcastic here, in case nobody noticed, so don't be offended by my ramblings

(So, I really am all alone in an uncaring universe, am I? Did I scare/upset you all with that last one? Where are Danbo and Jim? They know the difference between an extended joke (with a purpose) and a plea for help!)

Give me some feedback out there -- you took Ms. Carey to 17 pages!

The purveyor of truth: E.A. Poe.

And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
" 'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door -
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door -
This it is and nothing more."

My empty apathetic heart, beats with misery, whilst my betraying lungs suck breath through crusted nostrils. Agony, agony.... my only joy. Terror my hearts desire. I play a dirge, the song of my demise. Darkness, take me.

Hey, anyone know a really good dirge?

Dude, Danbo, Velvet, et al:

In a happy and caring universe, where humour had some sort of rightful place, I might be obliged to say that your recent posts here have been absolutely hilarious, and have provoked grudging smiles (nay, even laughter) from your admiring and amused thread originator.

Thankfully, we don't live in that sort of insufferable universe, so I am under no such obligation.

We are decidedly not amused.

I saw this interesting movie a while ago. I forget what is was called, but there was one interesting scene in it which I thoroughly enjoyed. It went something like this:

a guy walks into an art gallery and sees a gothic woman looking at a dark painting. the guy asks her what she sees in the painting. the girl replies, 'I see the existential horror of human existence in an amoral and evil world where there is no god to purvey divine order'. the guy says:'Interesting! what are you doing Saturday night?'  Girl: 'committing suicide.'   Guy: 'how about Friday?'

This scene obviously represents the average man's ignorance to the turbulent struggle humanity has to face to achieve morality. The guy is obviously unaware to the girl's psyche, and likely operates on a different intellectual level. The chance that he would even have a relationship with the girl is even more preposterous! Furthermore, the guy has no esthetic appreciation for the painting on the wall. Nonetheless, the scene perfectly showcases the utter simplicity of society.

More from the master -

In visions of the dark night
I have dreamed of joy departed-
But a waking dream of life and light
Hath left me broken-hearted. - Edgar Allan Poe
