Tarkus is bloody marvelous!! Breathtaking prog nonesense
Apart from pictures at an exhibition, which I think is awful, I'm not an ELP expert..But Tarkus..oh yes..

I decided it should be Tarkus partly because I am listening to The Velvet Underground... It alters my thinking

Knife Edge is my favourite ...
with Tarkus and Lucky Man rounding off the top three ...
I note that there is no allowance for the classic Lake ballads like
Still You Turn Me On, From The Beginning and C'est La Vie which are my
wife's favourites ...
My mother actually likes Jerusalem !!!

"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”
"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

Toccata - extreme stuff.Still sounds incredible to me and can't think of one other track by any other band that sounds remotely like it.

Favourite ELP moment?
That moment as the last beat has subsided and silence fills the air...........to bring blessed relief from the cacophonous racket that is ELP.

I prefer Are You Ready Eddy? Great romp... but I'd have to say my favorite at the moment is Keith Emerson's Piano Concerto No. 1.

Voted for "Knife Edge" due to the absence of "Lucky Man". Definitely
their 'safer' material, and probably least progressive. Just the way I
like ELP...
|
Marmalade...I like marmalade.

I seem to be alone in selecting "Fanfare". I've loved it ever since it was on Whistle Test prior to the Montreal olympics!

I went out today and bought me "Emerson Lake and Palmer" and was blown away. Fantastic group, there's really a hidden beuty behind all their pompous showiness. ELP has moved into my top 5 now!
