Actually, Trespass and Atom Heart Mother are 1971. You also left out A Question of Balance by The Moody Blues, which I think I would rate higher than all of them.
However, of the remaining albums, Time and a Word is my favorite, even though GG's debut is a sentimental fave.
Peace.

My vinyl edition says Trespass is from 1970, and so does my AHM vinyl.

I'd vote for any album that had a song like White Mountain, if the rest of the stuff is also excellent it's better, my vote goes for .........
Well, you all know for which one I voted.

Definitely Atom Heart Mother, 'cause it's the only one I've actually heard on that list.

I voted Trespass. The Genesis blueprints for the Gabriel era were forged here. The playing is a bit crap in parts, and the production fairly weak, but it's an album full of atmosphere and rich melodies.
I almost voted for ELP Anyone who's been around here for a while will know I have not been an ELP fan, but I am warming to them - slowly. Their debut effort is very worthwhile. Production isn't bad and the playing is good from the start.

According to that usually reliable source of all things prog Progarchives.com, both were 1970.
Went for "Trespass" myself, great album. Exciting times the early 70's though, weren't they!

I'm a bit disturbed that anyone would think Atom Heart Mother is superior to ELP's debut album.ELP set the tone for prog rock at the time. There are few better debut albums.

I voted ELP, one of their finest efforts to my humble opnion. VDGG came close. Trespass is a good album but you can hear the band hasn't matured in 1970. There were greater things to come for Genesis during the following years. In ELP's debut everyyhing that's made a ELP a fantastic band were already there. The Atom heart mother track is great but the other Floyd tracks on the album aren't realy worthwhile. The first album of Gentle Giant wasalso not bad

I've voted here from the available list for VdGG but I must agree with an earlier comment I would certainly go for H to He:Who am the only one as the best prog album of 1970
