Topic: pink floyd vs. genesis Posted: July 09 2005 at 05:10 |
listing all of what pink floyd made from its compostitional sphere for progressive rock,it ought to be some gods,to "embrace them in gratitude"for the novelty of their world-outlook...they still remain the unchalenged masters of the quadrofonic records, the only band that lingered in the prog-memories:1975-"New Musical Express"-100 weeks consecutively #1.that's how we used to be inspired by their meaningful inspiration...
as for genesis...they have some glittering,as skillful as their musical-nowheres.I can dance, invisible touch, sledgehammer, barely prog...

From Nursery Cryme to Selling England, Genesis were virtually untouchable (Camel excepted) and several other albums are very fine too. Sure they sold out but they still produced some fine pop rock.
Floyd also had a purple patch (Meddle to Wish you were here) but their first 2 albums and most of the later ones were very poor to moderate.
Both great bands but Genesis edge it for me.

Well, I think Genesis, Pink Floyd, Yes, ELP and Gentle Giant are all on the same level for me, but if I must choose... Genesis, because they made so many great albums.
And Genesis takes the lead in this poll at this very moment...

Genesis for me. I don't like Pink Floyd, and I think the progression of thier music is debatable.

Both would be in my top five all-time bands of any genre - provided we're allowed to concentrate on good periods. Genesis still wins though, on the strength of more classic songs (9-3).

I'm a BIG fan of both Pink Floyd and Genesis. Such a hard question this is....
But I'll have to go with Genesis.

Atleast Pink Floyd has a nice ending. The Genesis ending is so tragic, you'll never see any members of Floyd doin a Disney movie soundtrack. Thank God

Genesis is of course the best, even if Pink Floyd make the right
decision and disbanded in the 80s while genesis made the rong decision
and made som crap instead.
