 Topic: ’Brave’ The Marillion film.

I've just seen this for the first time. I have not followed Hogarths Marillion that closely, but I was impressed by the music.
I like the idea of bands making films, and just wish Genesis had made a film of the 'Lamb..' One can dream but 'Brave' has left me not wanting to watch it again. It's very depressing, more depressing than poignant IMO. For those who dont know its based on a true story about a girl picked up by police on the Severn bridge, wondering around, lost and confused.
Anyone else seen this? What do you think??

I did at first too, but it really isn't done well. Tommy the album really is ART. The movie always seemed like forced Art to me. It's certainly enjoyable though. 30 Roger Daltrey playing a 15 year old.

I always thought that was dumb. It's not a perfect movie (Not as good as Quadrophenia) by any means, but I think it had many good moments. My favorite song in the movie was Cousin Kevin (maybe it is because that is my favorite on the album?)

Haven't seen the film, heard too many negative reviews. Love the album though, it is probably my favourite Marillion, tied with Clutching At Straws.

yes! me as well! It was done very well with the punky looking kid playing piano, loved that. That version was better than the album version IMO.

I always loved John Entwistle's compositions on all the Who albums. The way the punk kid sang that song in the film is so much more expressive than the album version. In a word, much better. Pinball Wizard was also cool because of Sir Elton (and those boots!).

With you on that Blacksword. I found the film very easy to put down and never touch again.
In truth, I didn't like Brave much as an album either. Maybe I just haven't found a way in yet.
