No doubt about it for me (the hard-core Trekkie/Trekker it must be said) ...

 The Empire Strikes Back!

"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

None: Battlestar Galactica was a hell of a lot more fun. Just as tacky but it did not take itself seriously!

More seriously, though: Bladerunner is still the best Sci-fi movie ever done.

I'll go with A New Hope. Great humor at points. Although its a tough decision.

Ugh. The new ones are awful. Lucas really deficated on his legacy.

I love all of the old ones, though.

Mhm, I only saw the one that came out in 1998, or around. My vote goes for that one then...

I bet I'm the only person in this forum who has never seen a Star Wars film in their life...

....and frankly don't intend to!

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Episode IV, that was the last one before Lucas started taking himself seriously, after that V and VI are good.

I - III make me want to rip my eyes out.

My god those dialogue scenes between Anakin and Natalie Portman

I remember being a starry eyed youth of 12 and watching SW A New Hope in 1977 in an almost empty movie theater(the movie hadn't caught on yet)and being shaken to the core by that movie.Had never seen anything like it before up to that point.Since that time I have become a HUGE Star Wars geek and am proud of it.

But I have to go with Empire Strikes Back. It's just so dark, and I love the way it basically ends on a cliffhanger.

The prequels are crap, but despite horrendous dialogue I really liked Revenge of the Sith because I waited a long time to see Anakin's fall from grace and turning to the dark side.

BG was cool but you could tell someone watched SW and thought,we can do that. It's way too derivitave. The new series on The Sci Fi channel is awesome though.

And Blade Runner is WAY overrated. It plods and plods along, and Ford's narration is terrible.Good visuals though.

I liked the director's cut of Blade Runner without the narration and the different ending. It made you think more.

my favorite sci fi movie is PBS's version of Ursula K. LeGuins "The Lathe of Heaven" - now that is good science fiction.

thank god no one has, so far, voted for star war II - that is one of the worst films ever made.  it makes plan 9 from outer space look like a great film!!

I'm a huge fan and I can't even rate which ones I like the most.

The old three were good, and I don't care what anyone says Episode 3 was awesome. The other 2.... well lets just say they could have been a bit better.
