Alright, time to call on the metalhead section of the board.

Anyone into Nile?  I've just discovered them, and I'm absolutely blown away.  I've never been a fan of pure death metal, but somehow they manage to do it really well (in part because of the Egyptian influence, maybe).  I do think that they could be considered somewhat progressive, although I would never request to see them added to the archives.

It seems like a lot of Metalheads like Nile - who don't listen to much other Death Metal. For these people I advise you check out the following albums asap:

The Chasm - Deathcult for Eternity: The Triumph
Amorphis - The Karelian Isthmus
Therion - Beyond Sanctorum
God Macabre - The Winterlong
Immolation - Close to a World Below
Creepmime - Shadows
Cadaver - ...In Pains
Darkthrone - Soulside Journey
Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence
Nocturnus - The Key
Atheist - Piece of Time/Unquestionable Prensence
Golem - Eternity: The Weeping Horizons
Demilich - Nespithe
Demigod - Slumber of the Sullen Eyes
Arghoslent - Incorrigible Biggotry
At the Gates - The Red in the Sky is Ours
Brutality - When the Sky Turns Black
Fleshcrawl - Descend into the Absurd
Autopsy - Mental Funeral
Windham Hell - Reflective Depth Imbibe
Wicked Innocence - Omnipotence
Gorguts - Obscura

In Their Darkened Shrines is a favorite, but now rivaled by their newest release Annihiliation of the Wicked. They encompass many epic qualities about them as well as brutality. Sarcophogas is their best song in my humble opinion :)

The new vocals are not as good as the old ones (their vocalist left the band just prior to recording Annihilation ...). Musically, it's as good as the older ones though.
