Hello!

I am looking for epic/technical prog metal or instrumental rock in the style of Nick Johnston, David Maxim Micic, Sithu Aye or Plini. I like fusion vibes and very impressive guitar solos. Furthermore, I am not a huge fan of the "traditional" prog metal, such as Dream Theater (I only like Petrucci's guitar, but I dislike the overall sound of the band) or Ayreon. I am really striving for an experimental and even avant-garde tone.

I'd say anything with Ron Jarzombek could fit your bill--- Blotted Science and Spastic Ink come to mind.   You might also look into Luke Jaeger's Sleep Terror, and Counter-World Experience from Germany .

I already know Nova Collective, featuring Haken musicians if I am not mistaken. Great band.

I am also aware of Ron Jarzombek, even did a thread about him a year ago. Blotted Science, Spastic Ink and Control and Resistance are exactly the kind of stuff I am looking for.

Panzerballett I know, and I am waiting for their latest album.

I did not know the rest, so thanks for the suggestions.

James Murphy
He released two great albums (Convergence- 1996 and Feeding The Machine - 1998, with a lot of guests (most famous being Devin Townsend, Chuck Billy and Steve DiGiorgio).

Jeff Loomis (of Nevermore fame)
He also released two solo albums and a band called Conquering Dystopia with his friend Keith Merrow.
