Hi,

complete with a "moonshine", as a hippie girl that is going to get taken and killed figuratively.

I love a lot of Neil Youngs work. Especially "On The Beach" and "Zuma".

Not very much, but ...
GTR
Camel - The Single Factor
Vangelis - See You Later
Renaissance - Camera Camera

The reason why I rated so low these albums from some of my favorite bands is that I don't want newbies to think that their music is like that.

The last Shub-Niggurath deserves less than one star, IMO.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Vangelis See You Later is one of my favorites. a weird and interesting album... I probably would have given it at least a 4 star.  Love that album, not a bit, all of it.

These are examples of albums I liked at first, but just didn't stand the test of time with me. I will say that there are some decent moments on all three, but also that my BJH collection is a lot smaller than it used to be. I will also mention that I've never rated the Victims of Circumstance album, because I was thankfully warned away from that one before actually buying it.

I have a very rough rule of thumb when it comes to BJH.. you may agree, you may not...

No Wooly, No BJH... without his mellotron, the sound became very thin and without his influence, the prog was lost and they became too poppy. So, the last album of theirs I own is XII.

Yeah absolutely. If there is a Vangelis 2 star album it was that soundtrack for the Oliver Stone film Alexander or the very early experimental albums when he lived in France.

Opinions may Vary! Just how it is… recently I saw someone give Led Zeppelin’s debut album 2 stars. I was pretty surprised.

2 star (0.66 PA stars)
Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction

You would probably give a negative rating to 'Chinese Democracy' then :p. Joke's aside I think that's the only good album by Guns N Roses with a cohesive track listing. I listened to it long back and found it decent enough.

Metal I can't stand. The only proper metal band I have heard is Black Sabbath. Bowie's Blackstar was alright; nothing exceptional nor much bad; even I wouldn't have gave it more than a 3. Sadly, I have not heard anything from Kate Bush to comment about. King Crimson I hold in better stead even though their debut and 'Red' are way better albums.

The one I will actually disagree upon is VdGG's Pawn Hearts. It took me sometime to appreciate that album [In contrast, their debut I loved immediately]. I guess, Hamill's voice can take a little getting used to.

I believe that David Bowie's album absolutely is exceptional, especially when one considers the circumstances involving the album. Not sure how many other hugely beloved figures in music made better albums on the theme of dying while dying. I cannot think of a better or more poignant swansong in popular music/art rock. It is my favourite album of his (before that it came out it was Hunky Dory). To me it is absolutely a triumph and a truly remarkable album.

^ While I prefer earlier Gentle Giant albums, that is the final Gentle Giant studio album that I still really enjoy. Songs like "Empty City" and "I Lost My Head" rank amongst my GG favourites. For me the album would round out to about a a 3.5. I do wish PA had half star ratings. To me it is much better than Giant for a Day, which would get two from me (maybe a 2.23, 2.17 or 1.89 depending on the day). :)

EDIT: To clarify, I would give Interview a three at PA rather than rounding to four. It's surely more than a whole star (if using fractions) better than Giant for a Day for me, which is more like a one or low two for me.

I almost bought Turn It On Again from a charity shop today, but after reading your review just now, I'm glad I didn't, so it's more a case of Turn It Off Again. Tongue

By the way, I saw that same Genesis Hits album in two charity shops today, but I've never  seen a Peter Gabriel era Genesis album for sale in a charity shop, ever, which tells you something. Smile
