For me it's between Phaedra and Early Water, I went with that Hoenig/Gottsching album.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I selected Phaedra, but I have selected The Bermuda Triangle as well before... One of my favourite shows has been Black Mirror. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch is a kind of interactive movie special with similarities to the Choose Your Own Adventure book series. In it one gets to make choices, this or that propositions. The different choices lead to different outcomes, some minor, some major.

"Intended to inspire him as he writes his own game, the listing features artists like Bauhaus and The Cure. After thumbing through the vinyl bins, ultimately Stefan holds two records out for purchase consideration: Tangerine Dream's Phaedra and Isao Tomita's The Bermuda Triangle."

This is my listing:

1. Tangerine Dream - Phaedra
2. Kraftwerk - Radio-Activity
3. Tomita - The Bermuda Triangle
4. Klaus Schulze - Timewind
5. Stomu Yamashta - Raindog
6. Zanov - Open Worlds
7. Kitaro - Silk Road
8. Edgar Froese - Stuntman

Here's Charlie Brooker, creator of Black Mirror in an interview:

https://www.electronicsound.co.uk/features/charlie-brooker-on-phaedra/

Quote It’s an album I heard a lot in my childhood. It was a toss up between ‘Rubycon’ and ‘Phaedra’. Though I prefer the album cover for ‘Rubycon’, ‘Phaedra’ was a better fit for the soundtrack! It was then supposed to be a choice between that and ‘Radio-Activity’ by Kraftwerk, though unfortunately we couldn’t clear it for some reason, so Tomita’s ‘The Bermuda Triangle’ was a last-minute substitution. In retrospect, I wish we’d opted for a very different choice for that second album – maybe one between ‘Phaedra’ and something like ‘Who’s Afraid Of The Art Of Noise’ would’ve been more distinct… and we’d have edited the montages differently, rather than identically!”

If you had to choose, would you take ‘Phaedra’ or ‘The Bermuda Triangle’?

“‘Phaedra’, without question.”

I read that interview after listing my choices with Phaedra in first and Radio-Activity in second. I commonly have found it be common that people who have similar tastes in one medium will have similar tastes across various media and I have long wanted to make a website with that concept as a central component. And I'd want to throw in questions on ideology: politics and religion etc. Region, background... So it's kind of comparative analysis project which likely would end up being more for fun than anything deep. I've tried testing the waters on such things at PA.

^ Me too, and when there are unexpected concurrences. Incidentally, I like lots that Charlie Brooker has worked on, so I have listened to many podcasts with him, and it's also nice to hear more from him where he is not talking about stool and modern toilets that say "Yum" when you make a deposit. Although I do enjoy that stuff too.

More than a few of these vie for top honours. I may have to flip a quarter!

#1 Edgar Froese – Stuntman
#2 Synergy – Audion
#3 ARC – Fracture
Tangerine Dream – Phaedra
Jean-Michel Jarre – Magnetic Fields

The rest, all in alphabetical order. I deem them essential as well.

Gandalf – Magic Theatre
Michael Hoenig & Manuel Gottsching – Early Water
Kitaro – Silk Road
Johannes Schmoelling – Recycle or Die
Klaus Schulze – Timewind
Mark Shreeve – Thoughts of War
Vangelis – Ignacio

Phaedra is a groundbreaking album, but I like to listen to Stuntman more (and Rubycon, for that matter). So I'll vote for Stuntman (I can't believe I'm voting for an album Paul gives five stars Tongue). Then Timewind, Radio-Activity.

There's a first time for everything. Tongue

In the spirit of Friendship. you might also like Klaus Schulze's 5-star collaboration with Ash Ra Tempel.  Thumbs Up

Haha thanks, will check it out. Listened to two minutes randomly somewhere in it, which sounded quite promising.
