Has anyone noticed something odd about Steven Wilson's "Hand. Cannot. Erase." and Soft Machine's "Seven"?

Ideas are everywhere! Wilson’s sure looks a lot better to me.

While both covers may look similar at first glance, both are representing different music genres and eras—Seven is embracing a bold abstraction characteristic of the vitality to be discovered in the colourful '70s jazz rock, and the other a minimalism that underscores awfully overrated yet boring alt-rock pseudo-intellectualism of the '10s. Normally, I prefer Seven, both music and art.

Sort of like the difference between a rough draft and the final product.

Ah, there's nothing like coming back to the PA forum to read something interesting, only to stumble upon a nasty fart by an arrogant prog snob LOL

Thanks for noticing! I was just trying to elevate the conversation beyond 'basic.' But hey, we all have our strengths LOL

^ mission accomplished! But of course this was bound to happen, as this thread pits old versus new. I can sort of see your point except for the "intellectualism" part, don't hear that on HCE. But the upcoming SW release is all about that, so you should have a field day with it!

Tormato, for instance, has a better sleeve design that features a damaged cover photo than HCE.

This statement, for some reason, reminds me of the kind of blanket word salads LLM AI bots would barf out. xD

Anyway, this "bust facing sideways" type of cover is one of the biggest clichés not only in prog but in rock in general.

Oh wow, thanks for your incredibly valuable input! I'll make sure to file it right under ‘Ignored’ in my imaginary filing cabinet.
